Ballhog, Dancing Queen Support Vick

by Kyle Smith, Doberman on the Diamond

On Saturday afternoon, NBA star and all-around good citizen/ballhog Allen Iverson showed his support for alleged torturer and confirmed overrated QB Michael Vick at a celebrity flag football game during the "Allen Iverson Summer Classic Weekend," which is far too long a name for an event, charitable as it may be.

According to ESPN.com, Iverson told the Daily Press of Hampton Roads (VA) that Vick should "keep his head up."

Expounding further, Iverson said:

"There is always a bull's-eye on us. Everybody doesn't love athletes. Some people feel like we're spoiled. Some people feel that because we are rich, we think we are above the law; we're better than everybody else."
So there it is. Vick was targeted because he was an athlete. Like if he was just a regular joe working a 9 to 5, the cops would have said, "It's okay. Go ahead and electrocute, drown, hang and beat dogs. We're only interested in you if you can run fast."

This comes off the heels of confirmed douchebag/Dancing Queen Emmitt Smith saying essentially the same thing over the weekend:
"He's the biggest fish in the whole doggone pond right now, so they're putting the squeeze on him [Vick] to get to everyone else. Now, granted he might have been to a dogfight a time or two, maybe five times, maybe 20 times, may have bet some money, but he's not the one you're after. He's just the one who's going to take the fall -- publicly."
Oh, okay. Thanks for clearing that up, Queenie. Yeah, there really is no reason to go after Vick. He was apparently just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Forget the multiple witnesses and the kennel he owned and the house he bought for family members and the corpses of the dogs that were buried in the yard of that house.

Hopefully, Emmitt's commentary will be just as intelligent on ESPN come football season. The blogosphere may have a new superstar.

I love the idea that Vick was only a pawn. That'd be like blaming someone else when Nate Newton got arrested. Sure he had the 500 pounds of marijuana in his van but it was the system that created Newton. F You America for forcing Mike Vick to drown dogs.

It says something that any time a star black athlete gets in trouble in this country, OJ Redux happens.

If the bitch don't bite, Mike Vick is all right!

Wow.

I'm not surprised at all that Iverson would support Vick. Iverson always feels like athletes are getting a raw deal and that all of society wishes for them to suffer. What a dickhead.

But Emmitt? Man... I went to UF, and I've seen all of his highlights and I'm a fan of his... but right now I don't know. I don't support Vick at all. So Emmitt is along those same lines.
