Good Afternoon everybody ...
This is Richie Rich from Home Run Derby and I'm here to break my maiden over here at Epic Carnival.
Let's take a quick look at something which might be a bit more than a coincidence. In 2007, Barry Bonds has yet to start a baseball contest which has aired on ESPN.
May 6, 2007 Philadelphia at San Francisco
Broadcast on ESPN
Barry Bonds - Did Not Play
May 29, 2007 San Francisco at New York Mets
Broadcast on ESPN
Barry Bonds - Pinch-Hit Walk in 10th Inning
July 9, 2007 Home Run Derby at San Francisco
Broadcast on ESPN
Barry Bonds - Did not Participate
July 16, 2007 San Francisco at Chicago Cubs
Broadcast on ESPN
Barry Bonds - Did Not Play
One Plate Appearance in a regularly scheduled ESPN game this season. That's a little odd for a player chasing the All-Time Home Run record, wouldn't you say?
Now yes, earlier in the season, ESPN cut away to show Bonds' at-bats more than a few times. As I recall, that preceded his big power slump in mid-May and early June, during which ESPN stopped showing his at-bats.
I wonder if Bonds is boycotting ESPN for some reason or another ... maybe ESPN's cancellation of Bonds on Bonds after only ten episodes in the Spring of 2006?
Incidentally, Barry Bonds doesn't like Tim Lincecum much either, because Lincecum has started every one of those Giant games on ESPN that Barry Bonds has missed. He's had three no-decisions in those games.
The Giants have only one more scheduled contest on ESPN this season. That's on September 7 vs the Dodgers at AT&T Park. Think Barry will play that game?

Interesting. Although I think it's more likely that the Giants suck ass, meaning that ESPN only wants to air their games when a) Timmy Linc is pitching and b) when they have day games out in San Fran, meaning Barry is much less likely to play, particularly if there was a game the night before.
The first one you mention was a Sunday Night Baseball game - Timmy's major league debut against Cole Hamels. Not only is Hamels a lefty, but Sunday is a pretty standard resting day for a lot of major leaguers.
The second game was against the Mets and Oliver Perez, not surprisingly a left hander. And according to the game recap(the link you provided), "Bonds did not start, as expected."
The Home Run Derby is just silly. Barry's old. Besides, Bonds did an interview with Peter Gammons on ESPN during the middle of the Home Run Derby. Also, ESPN is HAWKING him on the "Chasing Aaron" bottom line thing, so its not like their trying to distance themselves or anything.
The fourth game, last night was against the Chicago Cubs and against Rich Hill, who.......is a left hander.
Isn't it more likely that Barry's rest days are on a reasonably set schedule which happens to coincide with Timmy Lincecum's pitching days? Which happen to be picked up by ESPN because he's nasty? Or that Bochy makes sure to sit him against lefties?
Bstone: what are you thinking?
You're applying logic to Barry Bonds bashing. There is no room for logic in Barry Bonds bashing.
You sir, are a Barry Bonds apologist.
