BREAKING: PETA Says Screw You

by Sterling Gould, More Credible

As if Michael Vick's life couldn't get any worse at this moment, besides like... someone randomly cutting off his limbs, the NFL will almost be forced to take a stand on Vick after PETA gets involved (and let me tell you, those people are nuts):

The animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has scheduled a protest in front of the league offices in New York on Friday morning.

"This is to show our frustration over the NFL's failure to take a strong stance against Michael Vick," PETA spokesman Dan Shannon said.

The call for protest comes as the NFL has yet to punish Vick, who was charged by federal authorities on Tuesday with competitive dogfighting, procuring and training pit bulls for fighting, and conducting the enterprise across state lines.

"Aside from Michael Vick and the celebrity status, the details of this case are some of the most shocking we've ever seen," Shannon said. "The cruelty and the size of this dog-fighting organization are staggering."
I know and you know that this was going to happen eventually, but now it's official. So I have to act like a professional media person or something like that. Alas, my sarcasm will have to wait for another post. Le Sigh...

If the Falcons or the NFL don't penalize, suspend, or cut Vick after this outcry, shame on them. Whatever money you would have to shell out to destroy Vick's contract, it's worth it. ALL OF IT.

Arthur, it's better to be a few million in the hole, than to hold onto it and have protesters come to your games... pretty much forever (or as long as Vick is in Atlanta). As long as Vick is with the Falcons, the organization as a whole has a black eye. Your franchise's name will come up anytime "Vick" is mentioned. You might as well end the relationship while you're a little ahead, and let Vick be a rogue.

If they do decide to cut Vick, wonderful. Asshole had it coming. They would look like the franchise that looked way past the money accumulated (because they know they'll make it back anyways), and would be one of the classiest moves in front office history. With the NFL not taking action at this point, they've shown their cards in the sense that "if you're a franchise player, you get special privileges".

Guys, it's time to make a move. Show us you got some class NFL.
