Link n' Blogs 7/30/07

by Jon Pyle, Pyle of List

Link n' Blogs is Epic Carnival's daily source for the second best of the blogosphere. The best being us of course. You'll also get lists, quotes or other random thoughts. Send your links to someone else now, amigo. (Editor's note: Send them here.)

Today (today, today, today), I consider myself (myself, myself, myself), the luckiest man in the world (world, world, world)...

This is my farewell post. I've contracted Jon Pyle Syndrome and will no longer be part of the Epic Carnival. But, please remember me fondly for my spectacular two week career.

Rest in Peace, Bill Walsh and Jesse Marunde. A co-worker played for Bill Walsh at Stanford and had amazing things to say about him. I've gotten to know more about Walsh in an hour than I did his entire career. (Kissing Suzy Kolber, The Buried Lead)

I'm not sure if this story is more uplifting, sad or funny. You can decide youself. Plus, I heard the Russian team beat DC United in a scrimmage. (Our Book of Scrap)

How much of a factor is "character" in HOF elections for baseball? Apparently a very big part of it for Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken's induction, according to the media. (Signal to Noise)

Great recap of Iraq's triumph in the Asian Cup. A great story that you're unlikely to hear much about. If I was President Bush, and just to be clear I'm not, I would be talking about this nonstop. (Who Ate All the Pies?)

Do you want your child to be a Major League Hall of Famer? Some good advice about what not to name them. (Bugs and Cranks)

Thank you, EC! Try to get along without me.
