The traveling band of misfits we call Epic Carnival rolls on, as anonymous as ever. That is, until this weekly series concludes in 2011.
Last week's Carny: Luke Halpert from Nyjer Please. Helmet stickers to all that guessed. This time I don't plan on missing a key detail. Remember the rules, guess the blogger in the comments. (Editor's note: This previously said Ryan Dragoon was last week's interview. Sorry for the error.)
Propose a fight for Fracas Friday.
Tom Brady vs. Anybody who can (and wants to) kick his ass.
3 best games you've ever watched (in person or on TV).
Boise State vs. Oklahoma
England vs. Australia - Rugby World Cup Final 2003
Phins shutout of the Pats last season.
What 4 celebrities or athletes do you want in your posse? Whose posse would you like to be in?
In Mine: Maurice Greene, Lennox Lewis, Ocho Cinco, Sooze from BLB.
In Theirs: Lewis Hamilton (he's about to get rich yo')
What is your closest brush with fame? Famous person?
My uncle played ___ for his country. No, really.
What teams do you follow? Sports?
Teams: Miami Dolphins, Seminoles, Ferrari and Johnny Weir baby!
Sports: You name it I'll watch it. Except Rugby 'League' (faggy ass shit)
What is your greatest athletic achievement?
Holding my schools record for being tossed from the most games. I was tossed twice but once would have been enough for the record.
What is your most embarrassing/worst athletic moment?
Holding my schools record for being tossed from the most games.
Why do you blog? What do you want your blog to be known for? What do you personally want to be known for?
My whole ethos when I started sports blogging was to talk about the sports and results that are usually over looked. There are a lot of blogs out there that recycle the same stories from the same sports over and over but I wanted to give credence to lesser followed sports. Plus I wanted to bitch about the Dolphins. My hope was that people would see my blog as a resource for sports that don't get big time coverage but should do, like Rugby and Track and Field. Of-course it never occurred to me that writing about those sports would NOT bring in the readers...
Do you want to do this for a living? Who wouldn't?
Sport is the purest form of entertainment, getting paid to write about it would be awesome.
Thoughts on the present and the future for the blogosphere. How does it fit with the mainstream media?
The thing about sports blogs is that they give the fans what they want i.e.real opinions. Sports coverage these days is so sterile and lazy and blogs like Deadspin and EC are a remedy to that. Hopefully the value of blogs will become recognised the world over before we all die alone in our parents basements.
What post on your blog are you most proud of? What's the most linked? Somewhat weirdly, my figure skating posts do phenomenally well. And man, Figure Skating fans are nuts.
What is your vision for Epic Carnival? Where do you and your blog fit into that?
Epic Carnival is a way for the smaller blog writers like me to reach a bigger audience. I'll probably be bringing the niche sports to EC. IMO it's the future and I'm honored to be a member of EC.
