While sports fans are still recovering from the aftermath of Who's Now, here comes ESPN's latest attempt to combine sports and entertainment, all while angering hard core sports fans.
ESPN has required the rights' to MTV's "Two-A-Days", a reality show based on high school football in the South.
ESPN will be renaming the show "Varsity Inc."and promises to focus more on football aspect than the personal lives of high school kids.
Even with a promise to focus on the football side, I'm shocked that ESPN is doing this after all of the backlash it received from Who's Now. What makes the WWL think that the reaction is going to be any better when they import a terribly annoying show about high school football from MTV of all places?
What does this move by ESPN tell me? They haven't learned too much from the Who's Now backlash and expect there to be more blending of entertainment and sports in the future on the WWL, despite what the true sports fans really want. Awesome.

Something going from MTV to ESPN is so appropriate. Remember when MTV showed music and ESPN showed sports?
I still cannot believe this.....Well, that's a lie, I believe it, but it's completely ridiculous. No one cares if the QB has statutorily raped the freshman cheerleader. At least not the people who watch ESPN.
Does anyone else agree that high school is probably the worst idea for a TV show?
Sure, the drama is high, but the quality of sports is God-awful.
Do you think they are going for the over 20 crowd... I don't think so!
Maybe they will acquire a high school sports website like Yahoo did with rivals.com and use the show to advertise their web site. A little backwards but that is what happens when you have old media thinkers trying to create new media.
Agreed, 2:46.. Thinking about how dumb this show is going to be makes me feel old.
I am from the West Monroe area and I can tell you that program is run like if not better than a lot of university programs are run. The facilities at WMHS are second to none. They have an artifical playing surface which they had 2 years before the local univerisites got theirs. The local univerisities are jealous over the field house and weight facilities at WMHS even as much as to call them "The University of West Monroe".
WMHS has been National Champions in the past and are a regular in the Superdome come every December for the State Championships.
So before you go around talking smack about a show that is in production, you might want to come and see WMHS and the filming in REAL LIFE.
I don't know the show may be a flop, but don't kill it before it airs.
Yall have no clue what West Monroe Football is.
The cameras only focus on athletes, not the drama.
Just wait till the show is aired.
You will realize how dumb you really are.
