Breaking News!!! Johan Santana is Good

It seems that Johan Santana may have been getting just a little tired of people saying that Erik Bedard is the best left handed pitcher in the American League and went out to prove that he is still the King of the Hill. One lazy Sunday afternoon and 17 strikeouts later and Johan the Barbarian can rest easy knowing that he's the man.

I love to watch a slugfest just as much as the next guy but there is little in baseball that is better than watching a perfectly pitched game and Santana did just that. Thrwing all of his pitches where he wanted, and when he wanted...Santana left the Texas Rangers as frustrated as a virgin on prom night. He was a man on a mission and he wasn't going to be denied.

I don't think there is another pitcher that I would rather watch pitch a ballgame. Sure Brandon Webb has the scoreless innings streak going, Erik Bedard has been throwing lights out and Jake Peavy has been absolutely filthy this season but for my money....Johan is the man.

For the next year every article written about Santana is going to include the point that he can become a free agent after next season. This phenomenal outing does nothing but up the price tag to sign Santana. The Twins would be best served if they built a time machine and went back to 2006 and signed him to a 7 year deal.....instead they will be left bidding with the Yankees, Dodgers, Mets, Orioles, etc. for the best lefty in baseball.
