History is full of great debate. Questions that remain unanswered like "what came first the chicken or the egg?" or "can you get pregnant through anal?" Luckily for you - the huddled masses - Epic Carnival is here to settle these arguments once and for all. House of Mirrors is your favorite Carnies taking a look at one another and debating the mysteries of the universe. This week the EC writers take a stab at another interesting topic: If all four major sports (NHL counts for purposes of this argument) were playing their championships at the exact same time and you could only see ONE of the follow games, which one would you watch?
SportsGirl365, Strike Zones and End Zones: Depends on who's playing. Game 7 of a Yankees series - way better than a Seattle-Pittsburgh Super Bowl. And as far as Stanley Cup and NBA Finals are concerned, I think...that....they...zzzzzzzzzzz.
However, take the actual teams out of it and I say Super Bowl, no question. I'm actually lobbying for the Monday after to be a national holiday.
BOHChris, The Blog of Hilarity: I'd go with Super Bowl because it's the Super Bowl regardless of my favorite teams (unless a USC BCS Championship game is an option...then I might reconsider). The Super Bowl has enough clout to make it number one regardless, what with the commercials, ads for shows I won't watch, and, of course, football. I do think the guaranteed most exciting would probably be the NBA Finals game just because if there's a Game 7, there's a good chance the games'll be evenly matched and someone won't want one of the teams to beat the spread.
Plus I could watch the Stanley Cup Game 7 three weeks later and have heard nothing at all about it all, so it'd be like watching it live!
Mustafa Redonkulous, Deuce of Davenport: I agree about the NBA finals. Probably going to be the most exciting. It would be high scoring because the Wiz don't play D. I also know Agent Zero would have a hilarious post-game presser and speech if he won the Finals MVP.
The Ravens in the Super Bowl. Great but a blowout. See 2000. It's usually a boring game. Don't get me wrong. I watch and get shitfaced every year but usually not a good game.
World Series. I'll watch but I can't imagine the O's in the WS. Sure as hell won't happen as long as Angelos is alive. It's almost like asking me what was around before the Big Bang. Can't conceive.
NHL...Who's that?
Sanchez, Shot To Nothing: Super Bowl, hands down. Even if the games a blowout you can still get blind drunk (on hype as well as beer) and mourn the end of the football season.
And yeah, The Monday after needs to be a holiday. Time to start thinking outside the box on that one yo'. Come up with a historic figure whose birthday it is or some big event or something. Then the politicians might have something to work with.
BD, Sports Show On Mute: I'd have to say game 7 of the World Series. Though that would certainly depend on the teams involved. More than likely that's the one I'd watch. Especially if the Tigers are involved. The only way I'm watching the Super Bowl over the World Series would be if the Lions got there. And we all know that's never going to happen.
Chimpanzee Rage, Deuce of Davenport: I say the Super Bowl...just the week long events leading up to it are worth the price of admission alone. If its in New Orleans, i'd be on some Bill Simmons-like gambling, drinking, smoking, sports binge all week...oh the fun. Not to mention its the most watched sporting event anyway, I'd love to just go to one of em. If the Redskins are in it, i might actually already be dead though.
Don, With Malice...: Without a doubt for me, game 7 of an NBA Championship. Sitting there, just 2 seats down from Jack (of course it's the Lakers! And of course I'm getting courtside seats - hey, it's my fantasy!), and watching the series come to a conclusion right there in front of me... nothing beats the NBA for the proximity to the action!

Oh man, I've got to check the ole' groups more often. I missed out on this.
You guys completely and arrogantly missed the biggest sports event EVERY YEAR!
Bud Bowl!
In Australia, I did go to the 1989 Grand Final (AFL). Pretty much all are in agreement that it was the best Grand Final in AFL history. Man... phenomenal. Guy's playing with punctured lungs, broken collar-bones... and 120,000 of us just screaming & drinking beer.
Aaaah... good times.
