How Will EA Sports Respond To Vick?

by theoriginaljd, Six Pack Sports Report

With the news that Ron Mexico will be spending at least next season playing for the Virginia Penal System many people are wondering what type of horrible raptastic things will happen to him behind bars. Frankly I've made my peace with the Lord and have come to realize that getting herpes might have been the best thing to ever happen to Vick as far as his potential rape victim status goes.

What I'm really concerned with is how EA Sports will respond to the news that Michael Vick will not play this season in the NFL. I did some research and Marquise Hill is not in Madden 08 and he has just as good a shot of being the Falcons quarterback this season as Vick does. So will Madden 08's next roster update feature the disappearance of Michael Vick?

This would be an unprecedented move by EA Sports as hundreds of thousands of 12 year old boys on XBox Live won't know what to do with themselves. Taking Vick out of Madden would mean people would have to start learning how to play the game. Gone would be the days of lining the Falcons up in 5 Wide shotgun formation and letting all your receivers run streak patterns then taking off down field with the unhuman Ron Mexico running back/quarterback video game legend. Joey Harrington isn't running for 1000 yards in your franchise mode kid sorry to have to break the news to you.

Who would step into the Britney Spears vagina sized hole that would be left due to the absence of Vick? Jeff Garcia? Hardly. Donovan McNabb? Doubtful. Then it dawned on me - EA Sports knew this was going to happen all along (like how I did this in 1950s film noir style?).

When EA Sports put Vince Young on the cover of Madden people were a little stunned. Oh sure everyone knew that LDT turned them down because he's a crazy person but Young isn't even one of the Top 10 ranked QBs in the game (he's 11th). But with Michael Vick out of the league this season Vince Young becomes the fastest quarterback in the game and by default he inherits the crownd of QB who kids who don't want to learn how to play the game everywhere pick because he can run real fast and it's tough to sack him. Vick's overall speed ranking in Madden was 94, Young has a rating of 90 - not a big enough difference to matter that much.

What does this mean for Young? Well it means that his stock just shot up about 100% because if there is one thing you can say about Vick it's that his video game prowess probably made him just as popular as his ability to play real football. If Young steps into the void left by Vick and becomes as dominant in the Madden circles you could be seeing Vince Young herpes stories by the end of next season - he could be bigger then US steel (I'm all over classic movie references today).

Did this article have a point? Absolutely not. I have become obsessed with Madden since it came out and can't help myself then to talk about it. I don't care that EA Sports won't have the spine to remove Vick from the game because from here on out I expect that every 14 year old who challenges me on XBox Live (gamertag - jdroche) will be using the Titans. Do it for the animals.
