K.J. Choi is a Class Act

by dswinder, Sons of Sam Malone

It's rare that I choose to do a post that is 100% sincere, but after reading this story I felt compelled to give K.J. some recognition...

Although K.J. doesn't have too much of a shot at winning the FedEx Cup, I think everyone is probably rooting for him to make a run at it...It takes a lot to get me to actually wish well for anyone other than Tiger, but K.J. has pulled that feat off...You see, when asked about what it would be like to get to be paired with Tiger in the final group at the FedEx Cup, K.J. said that if he won, he would give it all to charity...Let me repeat that...K.J. said he would give it all to charity.

"I could think of so many things I could do with that money, so many good things," Choi said through his agent and interpreter, Michael Yim of IMG. "I want to help a lot of the unfortunate kids around the world. I want to set up my own foundation, like Tiger. Thinking about what I can do with that money, it just motivates me. I think I'd be too happy thinking about that to feel any pressure playing with Tiger," he said. "I'm looking forward to the PGA Championship and the FedEx Cup. It's just a lot of opportunity for me to do some good deeds for those kids that really need it."
Just so we're clear, give it all means 10 million dollars...Tiger Woods is leading the Tour with 5.2 million this year...In other words, K.J. will give the biggest pay day of his life to charity...In the current sports scene where bouncers are shot, dogs are killed, herpes are spread, steroids are present, and jackasses rule, it's more than refreshing to actually see someone with a little decency about 'em...K.J. Choi, through that simple quote, embodied all that is right in a sports world where wrong garners attention...K.J. currently stands at fifth in the FedEx standings, and you better believe I'll be rooting for his rise to the top, and if he makes it, nothing will be more sweet than having the win win situation of either Tiger or K.J., classiest act in sports...
