So Michael Vick is about to find out just how stupid dogfighting is. Impending doom in the person of Judge Henry E. Hudson will determine just how much time Vick spends in jail, but he is going to jail.
It's expected that the prosecution has recommended 12~18 months, but Hudson has the power to just throw the book at Vick, and go for the maximum or thereabouts. The maximum penalty that Hudson can apply is 5 years (depending on what Vick has actually plead to).
Additionally, the NFL have released a statement which is probably a precursor to some nasty retribution. The statement read:"We totally condemn the conduct outlined in the charges, which is inconsistent with what Michael Vick previously told both our office and the Falcons."
So, Michael Vick? You're a damn liar.
Expect Commissioner Roger Goodell to rain fire & brimstone upon Vick - anything less would be tantamount to a capitulation... an injustice to those who have been penalized before.
Dogfighting...
Gambling...
Racketeering...
And now: lying to both the Commissioner's office, and the Atlanta Falcons. Unlike the US Government, Roger Goodell is not hampered by precedents, legalities (well... to a point: he cannot - as some PETA folks want - be fed to his dogs), or this plea agreement. Roger Goodell can throw down a penalty that would make Pete Rose cringe.
And I hope he does. I hope we see either a life-time ban, or a multi-year ban that's in effect the same thing. Not so much because I detest Michael Vick, I don't. But so that it serves a cautionary tale to all those who come after him.

Your words are slanderous to the name and reputation of my client Micheal Vick.
I'm just a cave-man, your world frightens and confuses me. I was trying to watch a video on my Iphone when my son called. I thought my child was trapped in my IPhone I was confused and angry, I began screaming to the sky begging the gods to release my son from his tiny cell. I didn't know anything about electronics or cell phones.
But there's one thing I do know. I know that Micheal Vick is being the scapegoat in a massive dog-fighting ring that he was never a part of. Your lies are hampering my clients chances for returning to the NFL in a glorious manner! I rest my case!
