It's been more than a year since France fell to Italy in the 2006 World Cup final, and French coach Raymond Domenech has had plenty of time to comfort himself with copious amounts of wine and cheese. Now that the grieving is over he's finally ready to reveal what he truly thought of Marco Materazzi's headbutt-inducing words to Zinedine Zidane. Essentially, he thinks they were fantastic.
"Say what you want about (Andrea) Pirlo but Materazzi was the man of the match."Well, A-Rod would certainly agree with that, although most people would probably consider it being a "little bitch."
"It's not a question of insulting but winding someone up to the point that he loses control," said Domenech. "That's part of sport...On the pitch any means you used to unsettle the opponent and play on his weakness are positive for the team."

Well if this isn't the greatest example of cynical soccer I don't know what is. Instead of cutting loose one of the greatest players of all time into the black hole of posterity, Domenech should be attacking FIFA for not yet having found a way to eliminate the cheating of players like Materazzi. Domenech is now for me an anti-beautifulgamer. May he burn in hell...or be headbutted in private by Zidane, with no witnesses of course...see how he feels about Materazzi's crime then...
