Welcome to hump day folks, it's the middle of the week and I'm sure you've already begun your countdown for the weekend. We'll all finally be getting our answer as to whether or not Donaghy is the only NBA official involved in the NBA betting scandal. Bobby Cox has finally reached the pinnacle for managerial ejections. And Don Imus is being sued. Before I get into all that though, how about you give Stacy Kiebler a little attention. Oh, and that Madden Review should be hitting Friday.
Bobby Cox Is Officially The Most Ejected
This particular record has been on the verge of falling for some time now. I feel like Cox managed to scale the ejection ladder due more to longevity than anything else. He's never seemed like a hot-head to me and despite not being a fan of the Braves I've seen plenty of their games. Thanks to TBS. If he can keep his job, I'd say the biggest threat to Cox's new record may be Ozzie Guillen.
Tim Donaghy Surrenders to Authorities; Expected To Plead Guilty
Donaghy from what I've seen has already surrendered this morning and will plead guilty. Given the amount of information he has and those he can help put away. One would have to assume he's going to have a hell of a lot better plea deal than Vick can even pray for. Pretty soon we'll be finding out the details of the case against Donaghy and whether or not he had any NBA cahoots. For the sake of the NBA you have to hope he's a lone sole on the NBA side. As I've discussed in the past, if anyone else ref, player, etc. is involved the NBA could be in for a much longer fight to rebuild their image then they already are.
Donaghy Update: He's facing 25 years on two felony charges.
Kia Vaughn (Rutgers Player) is Suing Don Imus
The lawsuit filed against Imus' is in the "Defamation of Character" vein and is potentially the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Vaughn is clearly just money hungry as this reputation she's claiming was damaged never existed in the first place. Not one person outside of Rutgers even knew who she was. I greatly dislike people like her. Who try to take advantage of the legal system we have. Imus is in an interesting situation, however. If he settles with Vaughn the other players may file lawsuits as well. Forcing him to pay them all off. He has to fight this and he should win. Seeing as Vaughn really has no case at all. I honestly cannot see how she wins this case. Don't get me wrong here, I don't think Imus should have said what he did. But, he lost his job and has paid enough. I'm still tired of this story and I kind of hope Kia Vaughn loses the case and takes a solid loss on costs for being an idiot.
Rick Porcello Surprisingly Signs
The largest contract ever given to a high school player. A $7.7 million deal that works out to be $1 million/year over 4 years with a $3.7 million signing bonus. From what I've read it's a "major league" contract. Which could mean he'll be showing up in Detroit a lot sooner than originally expected. I just can't help but wonder who he's replacing if they're planning on starting him. Robertson? Rogers? Those would seem to be the only options as the other three (Verlander, Andrew Miller, Bonderman) definitely aren't going anywhere.
Vick To Plea?
Their apparently working on a plea deal for Mike Vick as I type. If they fail to get it done soon the government may have levied even more charges against the former Falcons Quarterback. He's definitely going to jail, the biggest question is for how long? If the other charges hit it'll be a lot longer than if they can figure this out soon.

Bobby Cox got this 'record' because of his passion and loyalty toward his team. The longevity may have helped some, but it's not the main reason.
This, on the other hand, is pretty amazing... http://blogs.msg.com/gameon/2007/08/stats-shmats--2.html
