Throwing Knives: A Smooth Cat and a Dog

by BD, Sports Show On Mute

That's right, it's Monday again and I much like the rest of you must return to work. Slightly hung over, but mostly just tired after a day of baseball, idiocy, and alcohol. Some interesting things scrolling across the news wires this morning. Featuring the usual cast of Vick, and Mr. Woods. Oh, and one other guy. Before that though, how about a little Catherine Fulop? I thought you might enjoy that. Moving on....

Vick To Be Suspended For Entire 2007 Season
According to Yahoo! Sports the NFL is on the verge of announcing the season-long suspension of Mike Vick. I can't help but wonder how the player's union is going to react to this. While Goodell definitely made it a point to mention the gambling. This is still, technically, Ookie's first offense. I would have to think the union will, at the least, try and fight it. That is, unless it's a battle they know they cannot win. Given the Card's Goodell's holding they'd probably be right. I wouldn't be surprised if Goodell takes to a lifetime ban should Vick be convicted. As I'm sure the last thing Goodell would want is a fresh out of prison Vick looking to return to the field. When exactly that might be is up in the air. One thing I'm pretty sure of; Ron Mexico's career is over.

Tiger Woods Wins 13th Major
I'm not a Golf guy at all. But, watching what Tiger Woods has done over the years has certainly been remarkable. It's probably a slam dunk he breaks Jack's record at this point. And despite Golf being the equivalent to Nascar in my eyes. It will certainly be fun to watch. Highights only, of course.

Could Micheal Clayton Actually Get Cut?
This is baffling to me when considering the huge rookie year he had. But, apparently Micheal Clayton is teetering on the edge of unemployment. Given the downward trend of his career since that rookie year ended. This almost makes sense. I would have to assume none of you had drafted Clayton in your fantasy league. If you have, pay your friends for letting you pretend to own a team and let a real owner in there before it's too late. Though, to be fair he could latch on somewhere. After all, Jerry Porter is still employed.

Weekend Box Office Top 5
1. Rush Hour 3
2. The Bourne Ultimatum
3. The Simpsons Movie
4. Stardust
5. Underdog

I still can't believe they suddenly decided to make a Rush Hour 3. That said, I'll be checking it at some point over the next week or so. I almost seen The Simpsons, but not yet. SuperBad comes out this week and if all goes well I'll be seeing it immediately. But, I've said that before so no guarantees. If your not sure what it is, one of The Ghosts seen an advanced screening and have already offered a review for those of us without said privilege. If your tired of reading and can turn up your sound. I'd recommend a YouTube viewing of the trailer.

Recommended Rent Of The Week: Disturbia
Solid all around thriller. And that opening part with the kid and his dad was absolutely crazy. Definitely worth the price of a rental if your a fan of thrillers.

Television
Still just Entourage on this front. However I'm at the very least DVRing the new Duchovny show that debuts on Showtime tonight. Californication I believe it's called. The promos made it look at least mildly amusing. But, we'll see. Anyhow, the Entourage review.

Entourage: Solid overall episode. Though, as I said last week all this attempted legitimizing of Eric isn't working. You can all push the whole "little man complex" so far. Maybe it's just me but I think it'd be more like Turtle and just enjoy riding the coat tails without all the extra work. Anna Faris is much different when she's not playing one of her usual goofy roles. She suddenly became much more attractive to me last night. The Turtle/Cop bit was nice. And I particularly enjoyed Ari's wife in her bed-wear. Though that weak soap actor I could have done without.

Vick being suspended for 2007 is going to totally damper my fantasy football championship run.

Now I've got to rely on the arm of Brady Quinn...
