Throwing Knives: So Much For The Cubs?

by BD, Sports Show On Mute

I finally seen Chuck and Larry so I'll be recapping that today. For those of you, who like me, tend to procrastinate when a movie you want to see hits theaters. Now you'll know if it's worth your time at all. If you value my opinion, that is. Not a lot happening in the land of sports yesterday. But, I've found a few interesting things to toss at ya. Before we get to the "Whoop-De-Woo" though. You should give Giorgia Palmas the once over and if you have any idea who she is. Let me know.

Alfonso Soriano Out 2-4 Weeks
For a team that has been far and away the best in the Central over the last month this is absolutely devastating. And could potentially be the difference in making the playoffs. The Brewers aren't going to be playing around .500 the rest of the year and missing arguably your best player is quite a blow. As great as Derek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, and the rest of the cubbies are Soriano has been fantastic since he snapped out of his early season slump. If the Cubbies can keep the momentum rolling for the next two weeks before sowing signs of missing Soriano they should be able to hang on. But, one things for sure, those hoping they'd be putting a solid gap between themselves and Milwaukee are surely disappointed. I'm expecting a fight to the finish, and we all know the Cubs generally don't come out on top in those kinds of situations.

Dmitri Young Isn't Too Excited About the HR Chase
The below video is absolutely fantastic. Da Meat Hook has never been lacking in the opinion department, as all of us in the Detroit area know. But, for once I agree completely. The chase would be a a whole hell of a lot more exciting if it were Ken Griffey Jr knocking on Hanks door. Instead of well, Barry Bonds. Young's "Whoop-De-Woo" close may, however, be the best part. As I've generally heard the phrase it goes, "Whoop-De-Doo," but who cares, this was classic.

Rafer Alston Arrested
The arrest was of the assault and public intoxication variety. Not a smart move for Alston who had likely already lost his starting job in Houston to Mike James. After drafting Aaron Brooks the Rockets could afford to part ways with Alston. Though, I'm sure they'd like to get something for him. Rather than just setting him free.

Movies

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry
This was a solid Sandler flick, better than Mr. Deeds but not quite in the Happy Gilmore Billy Madison realm. Jessica Biel's half naked body is reason enough to watch it. Sandler and Kevin James were both good, but another guy took the cake. Ving Rhames performance was absolutely fantastic. And no one could possibly tell me they seen it coming. The singing in the shower bit was hysterical.
