Throwing Knives: What If? Thursday

by BD, Sports Show On Mute

It's Thursday again folks and that means I'm putting the spin on possibility. That's right, it's "What If?" Thursday again. Not a lot going on in the sports world last night. That is, assuming your not worried about Barry sending #757 into the cove. But first, as usual your getting a little something to look at. Today its Abigail Clancy she's a model and that's all I know about her. And I'm completely fine with that.

What If Barry Bonds Were One of the "Good Guys"
Looking at Jason Giambi and how things have gone for him since he admitted his steroid use. He's shed the road boo's and is generally well liked throughout the country. Based on the way he's treated, you'd think he never took a needle to his buttocks in the first place. Fans have embraced his honestly, his willingness to admit he made a mistake has paid off. His image, despite the steroid tag, has been rebuilt.

What if Barry Bonds were to outright admit his wrong doing? Would he, in time, be treated and respected the way he'd like to be? The short answer: absolutely not. The differences between Bonds and Giambi are quite significant. Bonds, for one reason or another, is the definition of an ass-hole. Giambi couldn't be more opposite. He's generally been well liked his entire career. If Bonds came out and admitted his steroid use. It would likely backfire in his face. He wouldn't get the positivity that Giambi's gotten out of it. Instead he'd lose even those who still support him, ya know, those people who cite a lack of evidence against him. If Bonds admits his steroid use, he'll make himself twice the pariah he already is.

But, what if Bonds' character wasn't so flawed? And over the years his public image had been a positive one? If that were the case, record or no record. Barry Bonds could rehab his image with an admission of guilt and an apology like Giambi has. Unfortunately for Bonds, he dug himself this hole and whether or not he admits his guilt. We'll always equate 756, 757, and those to follow with a big fat asterisk.

Chipper Jones Thinks Canseco Might Be Right About Arod
This is why I like Chipper. When you ask him a question he answers it truthfully. He's not going to sugarcoat it and you've got to love that. He basically said, that if Canseco puts Arod into the steroid camp. He'll believe him. Can't really disagree, but I can hope for baseballs sake that it doesn't happen.

Not That It's Worth Watching

But, if you were wondering the NFL QB Challenge won't be airing this year. Why? Simple, Mike Vick was a participant. Which baffles me, given his general lack of accuracy. Just to ease those of you who must know who won. Josh McCown... yeah the QB challenge definitely proves nothing.
