Throwing Knives: WWE "Cleaning Up"

by BD, Sports Show On Mute

College Football has officially begun as last night LSU, Louisville, Boise State and Rutgers rolled to opening night wins against lackluster competition. LSU didn't look all that special early but still managed to hang 45 on Mississippi State. It's just too bad I didn't put any money on it like I knew I should have. As of now I'd definitely favor USC in the match up that I don't think will happen because LSU will lose at least one game. Outside of last night's kickoff not a lot is going on this morning. Here's radio hottie Diana Falzone for your visual pleasure. I'd like to see her get a little more exposure as she's definitely hot.

WWE Trying To "Clean Up" Their Problem
I'm really not sure how much I care about the whole WWE steroid issue. As issue, mind you, that's always been there and is only being dealt with now amid pressure from Congress. Remind you of another "sport"? This is all coming on the heels of the murder/suicide in which Chris Benoit killed his family and himself in June. If not for that incident the WWE would likely still be plugging along waiting for another performer to pass away. Such as, Brian Adams, who is the most recent member of the wrestling world to take his eternal nap. If your wondering why it is I'm suddenly bringing all of this up. It's because the WWE has suspended 10 of its wrestlers for their connection to the Florida Pharmacy that was illegally selling PED's until it was raided in the spring. For those of you curious who the wrestlers may be:

The names of the 10 suspended wrestlers weren't announced, but sources tell the Daily News that at least 14 performers were caught up in the Albany district attorney's investigation into illegal Internet drug sales, including some of the WWE's biggest stars. Randy Orton, Charles Haas Jr., Adam (Edge) Copeland, Robert (Booker T) Huffman, Shane Helms, Mike Bucci, Anthony Carelli, John (Johnny Nitro) Hennigan, Darren (William Regal) Matthews, Ken (Mr. Kennedy) Anderson, Eddie (Umaga) Fatu, Shoichi Funaki, Chavo Guerrero and Sylvain Grenier were all identified as clients of Signature Pharmacy in Orlando, the site raided by Albany County and Florida law-enforcement agencies in February for distributing steroids and other prescription drugs to clients who had not been examined by doctors.
Randy Orton, Edge, and Booker T are the biggest stars who've been caught up in this. The rest of are, for the most part, complementary characters who fill up the under card. If Edge and Orton especially have been suspended it's somewhat surprising given the money the WWE is pulling from those two guys alone. I know, no one is above suspension is a situation such as this. But, in a "sport" so reliant on big personality's who can hold an audience it's certainly interesting. We won't get any confirmation as far as who has been suspended but as of November 1st all future suspended performers names will be released. Which could certainly have an affect on a performers pocket if his fans know for a fact he's juicing. Again, this is weird because its the WWE and I don't think I'm alone in having thought this problem would have never been addressed. And I'll be interested to see where this goes as Congress continues to get involved.

Are You Ready For OJ?
That's right people, OJ Mayo is on campus taking summer classes and playing pick up ball at USC. The OJ Era has officially begun at Southern Cal. Though, it's likely to only last one year it should be fun to watch. If I had to guess I'd say the USC ceiling is the Sweet 16 this season without Gabe Pruitt and Nick Young. Even with OJ's ego it's insane to think of how good this team might have been had they both stayed one more year.

Joba Headhunting?
Everyone seems to be up and arms over the whole Joba-throwing-consecutive-fastballs-at-Youk's-head-thing yesterday. As much as I dislike the Yankees I'm inclined to believe this was unintentional. Sure, Joba's had absolutely no control issues since coming up but I just don't see it. Once, sure. But, twice? Not a chance. Torre wouldn't call for the head shot in the first place. But, everyone knows in a Sox-Yanks game that a second one in a row is going to get a guy tossed. Thus, I'm not buying the intentional argument unless your arguing Joba was acting of his own volition.

For Your Entertainment
A student played a great prank on his rival high school. Unfortunately, the administration wasn't quite as amused. But, this is till fantastic.
