Throwing Knives: Yi-Waukee

by BD, Sports Show On Mute

Got a good little Wednesday planned. Going to Home Depot.... errr wait. Actually, I'm off to buy books among other things after I'm done assaulting this here keyboard. So, I'm going to get right to it. But first, may I introduce Leticia Cline? I may? Good. I've never heard of her, but consider me impressed.

Yi Will Be A Buck
That's right people! Yi has actually signed his rookie contract with the Bucks. Something many of us thought would never happen. While his talent remains a question for me. His marketability does not. His jersey will sell like hotcakes in China and could make Michael Redd's jersey just as big as T-Mac's over there as well. Again on the talent though. He did not look good playing for the Chinese National Team in the Summer League. And that's borderline NBA talent he was dealing with most of the time. Time will tell, of course. But, I don't think Yi will be on even Yao's level over here. That's right Darko, we found you a buddy to play with.

Tim Couch A Juicer?
This is hilarious to me for a number of reasons. Mainly, a buddy of mine from Kentucky was all over Couch when he came out of college and this is just another point for me to make when I destroy Kentucky sports for him. Also, it's Tim Couch. Who, much like Jason Grimsley likely couldn't hack it at the highest level without a little help. To his credit, Couch acknowledged brief HGH use when trying to recover from a shoulder injury. Though he denies any type of steroid use. You still have to wonder if Couch was using something while with the Browns.

Rafer Alston's NBA Career May Be Over...
...after he allegedly stabbed a man at a NYC night club. With Mike James' return to Houston and the drafting of Aaron Brooks the Rockets could conceivably cut Alston outright at anytime. Losing really nothing in the process as Alston was likely in for a long season as his minutes slowly diminished over time.

Kings Extend Kevin Martin 5 years/$55 Million
Fantastic move by the Kings as Martin should be an all-star many times over by the time he's done. He's the future of the franchise as they look to unload Mike Bibby at some point. The only real question is who he's going to be playing with three years from now.

Television
Californication was pretty good Monday night. Not quite on the level of the first two episodes. But, a solid viewing experience nonetheless. I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of Hank having a "girlfriend." Though it should provide some interesting exchanges between he and his ex. I'm really not sure how I feel about the whole agent-suicide-girl-spanking portion of the episode. Just seems a little crazy the way it happened.
