Virtual Lawrence Maroney is Not All He Should Be

by Eric Horowitz, ShakedownSports

Every year there are athletes unhappy with how their virtual clones are portrayed in Madden. This year one of them is Patriots running back Lawrence Maroney.

The Patriots running back believes his 91 speed rating on the just-released Madden NFL '08 needs to be upgraded.
"He was mad," wide receiver Donte Stallworth said, "because they had him at a 91 speed and they had me at 97."

"Madden ain't watched you in a while. He couldn't. Not since you've been with us," Maroney, a second-year pro, said to sixth-year veteran Stallworth. "Unless you were doing things with the Eagles that I ain't seen. ... I ain't seen no 95 or 97 out here."
Maroney isn't the only one with reason to grumble. He are few other potential Madden complaints from NFL players:

"My 'Awareness' of 68 is much too high. I don't want people getting the wrong idea about me." -- Randy Moss

"I'm not sure why Hines Ward has a 99 for 'blocking'. He's a decent blocker, but people act like he's the greatest things since Dermontti Dawson. How could he possibly have ended up with a better 'blocking' rating than me?" -- Alan Faneca

"It's insane that all the Jaguars receivers have a 'catching' rating above 70. Now I'll get the blame when I only complete 40% of my passes" -- Byron Leftwich

"My 'Injury' rating of 97 is much too low" -- Fred Taylor

"I really don't think it was nice for EA Sports to give me a - 23 rating for 'Throw Power' -- Chad Pennington

If I was Maroney I'd be much more concerned with the fact that in my Franchise mode through 14 games he's fumbled the ball roughly 128 times.
