Very close battle for the top spot this week, with LSU edging out USC by a mere three points. Pollsters seem to be in agreement week in and week out regarding the six best teams in the country (LSU, USC, Oklahoma, Florida, West Virginia, California), but they are also willing to penalize teams for poor performance (Louisville) and reward them for big wins (Alabama, Kentucky).
Rank/School (1st Place Votes)/Total Points (Last Week)
1 LSU (6) 206 (Last Week: 1)
- For me, still the best team in the country. - Sports Show On Mute
2 USC (4) 203 (Last Week: 3)
- I stayed with them at No. 1 last week, was the only member of this poll to do so, and was called out for it in last week's article. I imagine many of my colleagues will be returning USC to No. 1 after the Trojans beatdown of Nebraska - a confirmation of my superior intellect in the world of high stakes college football polling. - Doberman on the Diamond
3 Oklahoma 180 (Last Week: 2)
- Beware of road trip to Tulsa on Friday night. - Just Call Me Juice/Storming the Floor
4 Florida 177 (Last Week: 5)
- Remember when Tebow couldn't throw? - Vegas Watch
5 West Virginia 167 (Last Week: 4)
- It's no longer just a White-Slaton double-edged sword; now it's a three pronged White-Slaton-
LevineDevine grappling hook, which will be used to climb to the top of the rankings. You can use that if you want Corso. - The Ghosts of Wayne Fontes
6 California 149 (Last Week: 7)
- Is this the year DeSean Jackson and Co. knock off USC? - Sports Show On Mute
7 Ohio State 136 (Last Week: 12)
- Probably too high for them (6), but nobody in the next tier of teams had a better win than the Buckeyes at Washington. - Doberman on the Diamond
8 Rutgers 127 (Last Week: 10)
- Still under the radar. They will get more exposure when the crush Maryland next week. - Wasting Company Time...
9 Wisconsin 119 (Last Week: 6)
- I still think they are the best team in the Big Ten. - Wasting Company Time...
10 Penn State 111 (Last Week: 11)
- Time to play someone ranked below 105 in the country. - Just Call Me Juice/Storming the Floor
11 Boston College 109 (Last Week: 21)
- Matt Ryan is the best QB you don't know about. - Doberman on the Diamond
12 Texas 102 (Last Week: 8)
- So overrated, yet still undefeated. I'm just waiting for a reason to drop them. - Wasting Company Time...
13 Oregon 99 (Last Week: 16)
- Still living off the Michigan win. - The Ghosts of Wayne Fontes
- The ole Ball Coach and his cocks will be taking a drop after Saturday night in Baton Rouge. - The Ghosts of Wayne Fontes
15 Alabama 54 (Last Week: Unranked)
- Why not? Benedict Saban just knows how to win at this level. - The Ghosts of Wayne Fontes
T 16 Clemson 41 (Last Week: 20)
- I say again: Best RB duo in the nation. - Doberman on the Diamond
T 16 Kentucky 41 (Last Week: Unranked)
- Woodson is even better than I thought. - Sports Show On Mute
18 Hawaii 34 (Last Week: Unranked)
- Will go undefeated, but will it matter? - Just Call Me Juice/Storming the Floor
19 Louisville 27 (Last Week: 9)
- I think it's safe to say they miss Amobi Okoye. - Doberman on the Diamond
- Franchione is going to blow it eventually, I just know it. - Wasting Company Time...
PLUS ONE South Florida 20 (Unranked)
- Suddenly the USF-WVU game next week looms pretty large. - Wasting Company Time...
