Dropped Out: Penn State (#10), Alabama (#15), Louisville (#19), Texas A&M (#20)
by OMDQ, One More Dying Quail
Last week, LSU was our first place team by a miniscule three point margin. With a few more pollsters this time around, the Tigers were able to increase that lead...but just barely, earning the top rank by eight total points. It's hard to argue with those who are keeping these two programs 1-2 (including yours truly), but I also have to wonder what Oklahoma has to do to garner a first place vote. Maybe convincing wins over nationally ranked Texas and Missouri the first two weeks in October would help sway some opinions.
If there's one team that this week's Top 20+1 will prompt me to keep an eye on, it's Arizona State. The Sun Devils missed the final spot by two points, but those who provided commentary on the team noted that it has the chance to be a major player on the national scene if it can negotiate a hellish final month to the season.
