EPIC CARNIVAL'S NCAA FOOTBALL TOP 20+1: WEEK 4

by OMDQ, One More Dying Quail

Last week, LSU was our first place team by a miniscule three point margin. With a few more pollsters this time around, the Tigers were able to increase that lead...but just barely, earning the top rank by eight total points. It's hard to argue with those who are keeping these two programs 1-2 (including yours truly), but I also have to wonder what Oklahoma has to do to garner a first place vote. Maybe convincing wins over nationally ranked Texas and Missouri the first two weeks in October would help sway some opinions.

If there's one team that this week's Top 20+1 will prompt me to keep an eye on, it's Arizona State. The Sun Devils missed the final spot by two points, but those who provided commentary on the team noted that it has the chance to be a major player on the national scene if it can negotiate a hellish final month to the season.

Rank/School (1st Place Votes)/Total Points (Last Week)

1 LSU (8) 248 (Last Week: 1)

  • Circle your calendars folks, October 6th the Gators come calling. And I WILL BE THERE!!! - Wasting Company Time
2 USC (4) 240 (Last Week: 2)
  • They're the best team in the country on both sides of the ball. But the Pac 10 is the toughest it''s been in years, so their road is getting a bit more difficult. - Blog of Hilarity
3 Oklahoma 223 (Last Week: 3)
  • *yawn* When do they play Texas again? - Wasting Company Time
4 Florida 209 (Last Week: 4)
  • Tebow is proving he can carry Florida's offense. Number of carries could be a problem. Will they ever figure who should start at free safety between Kyle Jackson and Major Wright? - More Credible
5 California 190 (Last Week: 6)
  • Very good team with a statement game ahead. Is the gap between the top two in the Pac 10 that big? Or will Oregon be able to ride Dixon once more. - Blog of Hilarity

  • I'd like to smell Pat White's fingers. - Blog of Hilarity

  • Not really the hands down best team in the Big 10, as everyone predicted. - The Ghosts of Wayne Fontes
12 Texas 120 (Last Week: 12)
  • Granted, they are the second best team in the Big 12, but right now, the gap between them and Oklahoma is like the Grand Canyon. - Wasting Company Time
