THE FANTASY PLAYOFF COCKBLOCKERS

Every season there is at least one team in your fantasy league who had a terrific regular season but was brought down by a few of his key players. And then there are the lucky few who just get into the playoffs with a poor team but manage to avoid all of the pitfall players and somehow take home the title. Here are the typical categories that these Fantasy Cockblockers fall under.

The Devastating September Injury
You're get into the playoffs on the back of one or two workhorses. They've lead the way all season and were your best value picks or your top picks. They made your team what it was and then come September they go down do some injury and give you absolutely nothing in your postseason matchup. A big time kick in the groin. Some Culprits from this Season: Erik Bedard, Carl Crawford, Manny Ramirez, Albert Pujols, Ken Griffey Jr.

The Youth Shutdown
You strike the waiver wire at the exact right time during the season or you draft a youngster who develops right in front of your eyes. It's like be a proud papa. Then September comes and the manager decides that because they are out of the pennant race that maybe its best to give him the rest of the year off, at which point you want to kick said manager in the groin. Some Culprits from this Season: Tim Lincecum, James Shields

The Splitters
Their team sucks and they're getting up their in age so the squad decides to give them multiple days off so that they can see just what their youth has to offer. They may be slightly banged up but if they were still in a pennant race they would be playing every day. You can't particularly decide whether you want to dump him cause he's only playing every other day, or the waiver wire is so dry it isn't worth it. Either way its a pain in the ass. Some Culprits from this Season: Mike Piazza, Barry Bonds, Gary Sheffield

The Coors Light
Every once in awhile you'll have one of your stellar talents who has had for the most part a terrific season go into a massive funk in your playoff run. The spend the entire fantasy postseason on every ice cold list created. So not only do they not help you in your matchup, they actually find a way to sabotage your team. Some Culprits from this Season: Billy Wagner, Chris Young, Jose Reyes
