HAVE YOU NOTICED......?

by Jack Cobra, Cobra Brigade

Have you noticed that the Yankees have cut the Red Sox lead in the AL East to 1 1/2 games? You'd almost have to be living in a cave to have not heard of it by now. After being down 14 1/2 games on May 30th, the Yankees have made a comeback for the ages. How will this fairy tell end? Will the Boston faithful have their heart broken again? Will Yankees fans be able to say what they want about Boston without any repurcussions for the rest of time if the Yanks take over first?? These are questions I want, nay, need answers to!

So, how did this big turnaround happen. Well, for one, the Red Sox haven't been playing as well. Offense, defense, pitching, managing...you name it, they've struggled with it. The main reason for this turn of events is that the Yankees are just playing out of their mind. Couple that with Joe Torre finally figuring out how to use his bullpen and the Yankees have been unstoppable since June. While Alex Rodriguez gets most of the headlines, it's been a team effort by the Yankees and they are now beginning to remind me of those championship teams of yesteryear.

What will happen these last few weeks? Will Torre be content with just being in the playoffs and instead of making a push at the Red Sox, just set up his pitching rotation? Will the Red Sox bring Manny Ramirez back earlier than expected? Will there be any other sports news on ESPN for the next two weeks???

Not gonna lie, losing the division after having such a big lead would definitely suck (although the wild card would be some consolation).

But that embarrassment still wouldn't be even remotely comparable to being the only team in MLB history to blow a 3 games to nothing lead in a postseason series.
