by Kristine, This Suit Is Not Black
We really need to start giving soccer "hooligans" a new name, because I just don't think it paints an accurate picture of what we're dealing with. Especially when what we're dealing with is people who try to sneak machetes into games.
Police in Rome arrested 66 hooligans Sunday on their way to a Serie A match between Lazio and Atalanta in Bergamo. Some of these hooligans were armed with knives, clubs, and brass knuckles. Some of them were carrying machetes.
I don't know about you, but anyone looking to stir up some fun at a soccer game with a machete seems beyond the realm of a "delinquent." That person should be looking at isolation in a padded room.
And, in case you care, Atalanta won, 2-1.
