In Case You Weren't Sure....AL MVP = A-Rod

by Jack Cobra, Cobra Brigade

I know there has been some discussion as to who will be the AL MVP this season, but Alex Rodriguez sewed up the award last night. In case you weren't convinced earlier this season when he carried the Yankees offense and played good defense, you should have no doubts right now. Yesterday, Rodriguez spent the early afternoon getting an MRI on his newly sprained ankle and then came back to the ballpark to hit two home runs....in one inning. You can go ahead and add that to his list of accomplishments.

Let's take a look at his resume though really quick. So far this season A-Rod has a .312 batting average, 48 home runs, 134 RBI's, 127 runs scores, 22 stolen bases and a 1.069 OPS. The man is a machine right now. Of course, I'm going to hear arguments from people about how he hasn't done anything in the playoffs, but that's not what the MVP Award is about, is it?

So, wrap your head around this. A-Rod not only has a chance to have 150+ RBI's and 150+ runs scored this season, but he could also get to that 30/30 mark once again, which he hasn't reached since he went 40/40 in 1998. The dude is scorching the ball, the Yankees are going to the playoffs and there is no doubt that he is the MVP of the American League. Go ahead and give us your complaints in the comments section.

I agree 100%. Some fools stubbornly refuse to acknowledge A-Rod's MVP season. They love to hate anything having to do with the Yankees, so with their clouded judgement, they develop man crushes on Magglio Ordonez. Ordonez is a nice little player, but his numbers don't enter the same stratosphere as A-Rod's, and Mags isn't going to the playoffs.
