Jeff Jagodzinski led the Boston College Eagles to a 38-28 victory over 2006 ACC Champs Wake Forest. This game marked the beginning of the Coach Jags era in Chestnut Hill as he picked up his first career head coach victory at any level on Saturday.
Coach Jags has Matt Ryan is entering his senior year as the Pre-Season Player of the Year in the ACC and did not disappoint the faithful. Ryan provided a strong performance on Saturday from Heisman Trophy candidate Matt Ryan. He led the Eagles with five TD passes by going 32 of 52 for 408 yards. He was picking apart the Wake Forest offense throughout the game as the Deacons played a ton of 4-4 and 5-3 defenses begging BC to pass the ball on the secondary which BC was able to do easily.
Steve Logan was hired to take over the offense by Coach Jags. He was able to bring some excitement to the Heights on Saturday with exciting play calling which was absent from the previous coaching staff of BC. Logan used multiple wide receivers throughout the game and used the running backs rarely. People around Boston College always thought that the receivers were poor and could not succeed in this type of offense but were proven wrong by Logan today.
DeJuan Tribble who was named to the Pre-Season All-ACC team this year led the defense with three interceptions including two in the endzone to led the defensive effort. Frank Spaziani has returned to the Eagles sideline as the defensive coordinator after serving under previous head coach Tom O'Brien for 10 years. He did a tremendous job of calling blitzes from the outside linebackers in Mark Herzlich and Kevin Akins.
BC will host former Head Coach Tom O'Brien next week when the NC State Wolfpack visit Chestnut Hill. The game will be on ESPN 2 at 2:30pm.
