MLB Postseason > Wedding

by , SimonOnSports

Word was populated in the New York City area yesterday that Ian Kennedy the recent Yankee callup, who pitched very well in his debut over the weekend, scheduled his wedding for October. While this may seem like a pretty moronic decision for a baseball player, unless you say play for the Royals, I guess I can understand. He started the season in Triple A and his fiancée, Allison Jaskowiak, is on the USC basketball team, so perhaps it made some sense. I guess he just wasn't that confident in his abilities to make it to the Big Leagues.

But now that he's here in NYC it's time for Kennedy to put his foot down and be a man. First off your fiancée is no Brynn Cameron in the looks department. You on the other hand are a professional baseball player for the New York Yankees chances are she isn't getting any better than you. More likely she should do everything to appease you in the corresponding months so she can tie you up. Next you get paid for playing baseball, she does not get paid at USC, only because she isn't playing for Pete Carroll. Also you are actually good at what you do, on the opposite end of the spectrum Allison averaged 3.3 points per game and 3.1 rebounds per game. I feel as if USC would be able to live without her for a week and a half if she desperately wanted a honeymoon right away. She's also a fifth year senior, its like a bonus for her to be playing, something in her spare time to do while she goes for that Grad Degree she really won't need while married to a professional athlete.

Time will tell what Kennedy will do. His wedding date is on an off day for both AL Series so he could perhaps get married and then make a start the next day. But count me as one who thinks that if the Yankees call on him to pitch in the playoffs that perhaps getting married will be a distraction. So sack up and tell the woman that she's going to have to wait.
