O.J. TAKES A DETOUR IN HIS SEARCH FOR THE KILLERS

by Kristine, This Suit Is Not Black

It's not everyday that one man has the potential to be a part of one of the biggest trials of a century...and then of a second century, but we're talking about O.J. Simpson, so it doesn't seem that far out of reach. I actually doubt it'll beat out his last trial – I don’t even know if it'll even go to trial, really – I’m not overly knowledgeable when it comes to these lawyerly proceedings – but O.J. has been charged with six counts of robbery, assault, burglary and conspiracy after allegedly taking sports memorabilia from a Las Vegas hotel room last Thursday. Walter Alexander, O.J.'s alleged accomplice has been arrested as well.

Alfred Beardsley, the robberee, says guns were involved while Simpson maintains there weren't any guns and it wasn't a robbery because the items were his. Unfortunately, based on audio recorded by Thomas Riccio, co-owner of the auction house Universal Rarities who was asked by Simpson to help prove certain memorabilia in Beardsley’s possession was ill-gotten, it’s hard to tell if there are guns involved or not. But this is not the first time Simpson has maintained his innocence. And we all remember what happened the last time.

Meanwhile, Alexander has already posted bail while Simpson is being held on $78,000 bond, set last night by Vegas officials. TMZ (of all places) reports that Simspon’s being quiet, calm and cooperative. What, no Bronco? Where's the fun in that?
