RANDOM OBSERVATIONS GIANTS @ REDSKINS : FIRST HALF EDITION

by Davey, Blown Coverage

The 1 o'clock games are in the book and I think it's safe to make certain assumptions. The Steelers are good, the Packers are good, the Pats are ridiculously good. The Ravens are overrated, the Vikings are in deep trouble and so are the Bills. The Lions are who we thought they were, Donovan McNabb showed everyone that he's not done yet and the Rams might just be really, really bad.

As for this game, it's the second time that I'll be seeing both the Giants and Redskins in action and from what I've seen so far, I'd have to give the advantage to Washington. I'll be rootin' for the Skins and for fantasy purposes I'll be watching Clinton Portis, Jeremy Shockey and Plaxico very closely. Joe Buck is here to rape our ears....so let's get this party started.

  • The Skins are following in the steps of the Steelers and the Eagles and are also busting out some ol' skool threads today. It's a combination of mustard yellow and red and I'm kind of indifferent to it. It isn't rocking my socks off, but I'm not puking from my eyes either.
  • The Skins have an impressive opening drive but Shaun Suisham misses a pretty makable field goal. Nice of him to beat my Dolphins on opening day with an overtime field goal though.
  • It just occurred to me that I'm 8-1 with my picks so far today and I'm grabbing my testicles as we speak. The only game I had wrong was Tampa-St. Louis, and like I said, the Rams just really, really suck.
  • And the Giants score first. Lawrence Tynes succeeds where Suisham failed and nails a field goal for New York. Giants lead 3-0 and I've already had it with Joe Buck.
  • Eli Manning just got his ass handed to him by Andre Carter and London Fletcher-Baker is all over that fumble. The Skins get great field position and Clinton Portis punches it in a few plays later. Redskins 7, Giants 3, Eli Manning pathetic.
  • Joe Buck just said "hits the hole hard". And just like that, my lunch is making its way back out of my throat. Thank you Joseph...
  • Plaxico Burress decides that he's going to play some drop today. Burress has already dropped 2 passes by my count but I can't really blame him though. If I'm trying to make a catch while Sean Taylor is covering me, I would just shit myself and go directly to the locker room. You know, just call it a day and try my luck again next week.
  • I'm checking the Panthers-Falcons stats and it looks like Steve Smith hasn't caught a pass yet. So either Steve Smith has been abducted by a Mexican gang, or DeAngelo Hall is playing some major defense today. I'm leaning towards the former.
  • Speaking of another strange game. The Jags are leading Denver 17-7 and I would've bet my house on Denver today. I guess that Simmosn is right. If a game is too obvious, just go the other way.
  • Sinorice Moss makes a nice catch and run and the Moss brothers have now both left their mark on the game. There are 6 Miami Hurricanes in this game and that makes my erection even bigger right now.
  • Elisha Manning continues to lead the Giants to greatness as he turns it over yet again. Manning throws a pick to London Fletcher and the Redskins are in great position to add to their lead before the half.
  • Shaun Suisham adds a field goal and we are going to the half. Redskins 17, Giants 3, Eli un-masculine, Davey enjoying this very much.

I hope that Mexican gang holds onto Mr. Smith.

I play him next week.
