RANDOM OBSERVATIONS GIANTS @ REDSKINS : SECOND HALF EDITION

by Davey, Blown Coverage

The second half is about to kick-off and Yahoo(!) still has the score of this game wrong. It's 17-3 so far but Yahoo is ignoring that Giants field goal. So either some intern needs to be fired, or Yahoo just doesn't care about the Giants, which would be pretty awesome in my book.

Meanwhile, the Jags are still leading the Broncos and that's one of those games that just shows you how little you know about the NFL. All signs point to a Denver win but the Jags are having none of that silly talk.

  • Eli comes out surprisingly strong in the second half and after connecting on a nice pass to Jeremy Shockey, Reuben Droughns finishes it off with a prance into the endzone. Redskins lead now down to 17-10 and Eli just giggled like 4 year old on crack.
  • Joe Buck sarcastically referred to Troy Aikman as "mister offensive coordinator" and if I'm Troy Aikman, I would've stabbed Buck in his chest with a rusty knife for acting like a tough guy. Find some sarcasm in tetanus, prick...
  • Speaking of getting stabbed with a rusty knife, Joey Harrington just threw his second touchdown pass and the Falcons are leading Carolina 17-10. The Panthers might be joining the Rams in the category of "really, really bad teams".
  • Ah, there's the Eli we all know and make fun of. Eli heaves up a pass that is easily picked off by Sean Taylor. That's a pass that never should have been made, but Eli's brain computes on the same level as a dead armadillo.
  • Plaxico Burress is looking much better this half. He's going up against Shawn Springs and the Giants have to be liking that match-up. And speaking of looking good, Eli connects with Shockey again and the Giants are threatening to tie this bad boy up.
  • Eli tried to do his best Peyton impression at the line of scrimmage but he ended up looking ridiculous and he had to take a time out. Someone end this guy's misery and let him go play some women's field hockey.
  • And just like that we have a tied ballgame. Reuben Droughns adds another one for the Giants and it's now 17-17. I feel like taking a dump on Joe Buck's face.
  • The Panthers must've heard my remarks. Carolina has taken a 24-17 lead on Atlanta but the bad news is that Jake Delhomme is hurt. David Carr is in and I'm still wondering what's up with Steve Smith.
  • The Redskins are just imploding now. Clinton Portis fumbles a hand-off and Antonio Pierce recovers it for New York. I take it back. I guess someone DID mail Pierce some suggestions on how to play defense.
  • And the Jacksonville-Denver game is a final. Jacksonville wins 23-14 and I really did not see that one coming. If I was a betting man, some Russian mobster would be violating me profusely right now because of the grotesque amount of money that I would be owing.
  • Plaxico Burress makes a great catch and run and the Giants lead 24-17. The Giants have now scored 21 unanswered points and the Skins are suddenly bleeding from their armpits.
  • The Seahawks hold on for a 24-21 win against Cincy and my picks are suddenly not looking so great. My erection is down to a very flacid state in just a matter of minutes.
  • Oakland uses the Denver trick on Cleveland today. Phil Dawson lined up for a game-winning kick but Lane Kiffin called a time-out right before the kick. Dawson has to re-kick it but it gets blocked and the Raiders are in the win column. Can't wait for Cleveland to turn around and use that trick on my Dolphins one of these weeks.
  • The game comes down to this. Santana Moss makes a very tough catch on 3rd and 21 but he's a few yards short of the first down. It'll be 4th and 3 with less than 2 minutes left in the game. This might be it here...
  • Oh man. A false start on Washington and 4rth and 3 now becomes 4th and 8. That's the second penalty on Casey Rabbach during this series and that hurts.
  • Well, not really. Campbell completes a huge pass to Santana Moss and Moss runs for a first down. The Skins are still alive but Moss is limping now.
  • HUGE completion to Randle El and the Skins have a first down on the 2 yard line. The Skins have looked terrible in the second half but Jason Campbell has been huge on this drive. The young man can play quarterback, that's for sure.
  • Holy crap. That's the ballgame. The Skins had the ball on the 2 yard line but they can't punch it in. Washington rushes it for some reason and the Giants stuff them on 4th down. What a comeback for New York...what a disappointing loss for Washington. What a dumb expression on Eli Manning's face...

The lack of score updates was probably due to the fact that STATS Inc. was having trouble with their feed today.
