You might not realize it, but September 20th is a monumental day in United States history. Why, you might ask? Here's a few reasons. This day in 1969 marked the departure of John Lennon from the Beatles. Lennon was an amazing talent and he led the way for men everywhere to become whipped by their new girlfriends and abandon their lifelong friends. Damn you Yoko. Women would stick it to men again just four years later when Billie Jean King destroyed Bobby Riggs in a tennis match dubbed "Battle of the Sexes." So basically, we can thank those two idiots for these new female athlete commercials? "It's a skills thing?" Thanks for nothing.
Think you deserve a day off? Go for it, after all Cal Ripken took a day off almost ten years ago today after not missing work for 2,632 days. Cal played for the Orioles for 54 straight seasons, following in his footsteps, Tiger pitcher Joel Zumaya missed two months with an injury sustained with playing Guitar Hero last season. We live in a different world, although that hasn't stopped Brett Farve, who began his consecutive starts streak exactly 15 years ago today.
The most important piece of trivia came in 1984 when The Cosby Show and Who's the Boss premiered on the same night almost thirty years ago tonight. Bill Cosby and Tony Danza starred in two of the great sitcoms of their time during a period when family shows were at their peak during the 1980's. Both shows produced spin-offs and Who's the Boss introduced the world to the sexiest Dodger fan in the world, Alyssa Milano. If that's not an important day in history, then I don't know what is...
