THROWING KNIVES: BIG SPORTS WEEKEND

by BD, Sports Show On Mute

I'm leaning in the direction of WVU tonight against South Florida. If for no other reason than Noel Devine. As he's the only major difference in WVU's team this season. That said, this one's probably going to be close as USF showed last year they can shut down a running game. The countless NL playoff scenarios are a little crazy. I wouldn't mind seeing the 5-way tie though. It looks like the Phillies will win the East, but considering some of the things we've seen the last week or two I'm not calling anything. Having a hard time deciding between Coles and Boldin for the 2nd strait week. Coles was the wrong choice last week, but he's got the Bills while the Cards meet the Steelers. This pic is relatively old, but I'm a big time Kristen Bell fan. So, you'll have to deal. Also, am I the only person wondering what her character will be like on Heroes?

Big Sports Weekend
Here's the rundown:
The NL playoff bukkake
WVU @ USF
Cal @ Oregon
Alabama @ FSU
NFL Week 4

The Bukkake...
...will probably be the most interesting portion of the weekend. That is, unless things slide so far one way tonight that all the wild possibilities fly out the window. It'd all still be possible, but even more unlikely. The team everyone's rooting for the Colorado Rockies have now put up 11 strait. But, can they keep it going against the division leading D'backs? Regardless of what happens, Matt Holiday has almost sewn up the NL MVP for me. The Padres get the Brewers in Milwaukee and that makes me think the Brewers will be missing out on the postseason this year. The Mets and Phillies have Florida and Washington respectively. Both could pull sweeps, but I highly doubt and am favoring the Phillies. No matter what happens, I'm rooting for as many ties as we can get.

WVU @ USF
As I stated above I'm leaning toward the Mountaineers, but it's going to be a close one. I can see it going either way, but Noel Devine is just enough to tip the scale in the direction of the coach burners.

Cal @ Oregon
One thing's for sure, their will be a whole lot of points in this one. I anticipate a just big enough day for Dennis Dixon to put the Ducks over the top in Eugene. My money, however, is on the Bears +6.

Alabama @ FSU
This isn't as big a game as the others, but it's one of the bigger games this Saturday. I'm not overly impressed with the 'Noles this year. But, they're at home and that usually counts for at least three points. Still, it's 'Bama for me as Satan picks up a big road win following last week's loss to Georgia.

NFL Week 4
Their are NINE, yes NINE, road favorites in this weekend as all the good team seem to be playing away from home. Some lines I decided to take advantage of include GB -1.5 @ Minnesota ( a dome, i know), Houston -3 @ Atlanta, and of course New England -7 @ Cincinnati. Overall it should be an interesting week. I'm rolling with a lot of those road favorites this week so I'm not overly confident in a lot of my picks.

In Other News...

Thiesmann Leaving ESPN
This was going to happen at some point as Thiesmann was essentially being paid to do nothing since Jaws took his slot on MNF. Now if only Merrill Hodge would follow him out the door I'd be satisfied.

G-Town Extends Thompson III
It's about time. He should have gotten an extension pretty quickly after last season ended. The extension adds on 6-years and will last through 2013.

Television
The Office is finally back on and the first episode didn't disappoint. I thought Jim and Pam trying to hie their relationship, only to be caught this early, was pretty amusing. The thing about them finally dating is it won't turn the show into any kind of romance or anything. They'll still act the same at work I'd imagine. I still cannot believe Pam seen Micheal's toy soldier. Just one of those situations your never expecting. I knew Dwight had to have killed Sprinkles. The look on his face as she gave him his directions made it pretty clear he wouldn't be rubbing any ointment under her tail. And, only Micheal would attempt to raise money for Rabes. Leading to one of the more amusing moments when Daryl fed the peanut to the squirrel "He's so happy!"

The best part of the episode was here though (not promising direct quotes):
Micheal: "Dwight, go to the hospital and pay your respects."
Dwight: "I do not respect her. But, ok."

I still cannot believe he said "pay your respects" as if Meredith had passed. Classic stuff as usual.
