From a gambling perspective I had a pretty good Sunday, and it can only get better tonight if Tennessee can cover. But, it was insane from a fantasy perspective. That's right, I sat Anquan Boldin in favor of Laveranues Coles this week. If not for Roy Williams I wouldn't be leading that match-up. I got stuck at work late this morning so you'll have to wait a day for the weekend box office rundown. Though I have a feeling none of you will be to upset about that. Heroes returns tonight and let me tell you, I'm looking forward to it. It's even better with Kristen Bell joining Hayden on screen. Lots of NFL to talk about before I go into a coma though, so let's get to it. After you give one of my favorites, Maria Menounos.
Running Away
The Cowboys in absolutely throttling the Bears last night looked like the best team in the NFC hands down. The only team that looks like a contender right now, is Green Bay. And that's a very very long shot. The defense, even without Greg Ellis looked great last night. Albeit against arguably the leagues worst Quarterback. The Cowboys have the NFC East all but sealed up if you ask me. The Eagles aren't the team many seem to suddenly think and the Redskins D won't be able to overcome Jason Campbell's many growing pains. The Giants? They're only real shot is for Eli to morph into Peyton as that defense isn't shutting down any quality offense's for even a half. As for the NFC? I'd also say the Cowboys will be hosting every one of their playoff games on their way to what will, by then, be a re-match with the Patriots.
As for the Bears, what to do, what to do? Lovie Smith has tied himself to Rex Grossman at this point. Can he really bench him after all that's happened? Grossman's apparent mental makeup would lead one to believe that benching him will end his career in Chicago. Even if Brian Griese breaks both of his legs on his first snap. Kyle Orton will be the backup QB. That's it, end of story in my opinion. AT the end of the season Rextacy and Chicago would part ways and that would be that. Regardless I don't think Chicago's returning to the Superbowl. But, if they don't figure this out they'll be looking up at Green Bay for the season's duration.
What was up with Chicago's defense anyway? Romo throws the ball to Owens virtually every time and you can't stop it? Not going to get it done even when Rex is playing well.
Please Quit
Everyone has jumped aboard the Philly bandwagon after their absolute trouncing of the Lions yesterday. Which, given the score and McNabb's #'s I understand. Sorry though people, that was the real Lions standing up not the Eagles. As I detailed before the season the Lions pass defense is potentially the worst in the league. Which is why I couldn't understand Oakland's decision to dink and dump all day in the season opener. Minnesota not going deep makes sense. I mean, have you seen their offense outside of AP and Chester? I expected the Eagles to pass and pass easily all day as long as McNabb was on target. Sure, I would have never guessed they'd drop 56 on the Lions. But, a good day for all offensive player involved was very much expected. I know, I'm just a basement dwelling, athlete wannabe, who pretends they know what's going on and all. But Fernanda Bryant is the #1 corner here. Yes, Fernando Bryant, the guy who will be hurt by week 6.
The Lions will drop to 2-2 next week as Kitna throws a bunch of picks and Grossman, yes Grossman, shreds the Lions defense deep like every else will. Nothing like the Lions to get you out of the doghouse eh Rex? The question now is whether or not the Lions can stay competitive once Shaun Rogers officially packs it in come week 8.
Why Ken, Why?
Yeah you Whisenhunt. Why in the hell did you make the move from Leinart to Warner if you were going to claim Leinart gives your team the best chance to win and he'll play the full game next week. Like it or not chief. You've got a QB controversy on your hands when Leinart plays like garbage again next week.
DeAngelo Hall Blows Falcons Best Shot?
I still cannot believe this. I'm glad it happened as it put a bow on my 4-team parlay. But, come on DeAngelo. How do you apologize to a team for losing the same single handedly? Joey Harrington has arguably the best game of his career and you almost won a game you shouldn't have had a shot at it.
Clinton Portis > Ladell Betts
That's all I'm saying about the end of the Giants-'Skins game.
Angels and Indians Clinch Divisions
'Twas a forgone conclusion. The real question is who's going to grab the best record?
I''ll get to College, more NFL, Milton Bradley, and a other things tomorrow. Sorry for the abbreviated post on a Monday. Oh, and the Scoreboard will be back alongside Movies and TV tomorrow as well. Enjoy Heroes and root for Tennessee +4.5 and over 41 tonight.
