I've decided I hate my immune system this morning as I haven't taken a decent breath in a day or so and what's the world coming to when you can't let out a decent sigh after another Tigers loss? Speaking of which, why isn't anyone considering Cleveland for the World Series? They're on fire right now and with Sabathia and Carmona what's not to like about them in the playoffs? How about those now unranked Wolverines? The state has gone into mourning, it's hilarious. Why don't you check Eva Horvath at the door and step inside?
Wolverines From #5 To Unranked
With all the talk about how good Appalachian State is it's kinda surprising to see the Wolverines fall so far. But, when you consider how they lost it's difficult to criticize the lofty fall. The Wolverines must now win the Big Ten championship to save their season. Something that appears highly unlikely after just one week of watching Wisconsin and Penn State. Their is some good news though, Notre Dame is bad and the Wolverines will be favored when the Irish visit the Big House a week and a half from now. If UM can somehow slow down Dennis Dixon and the Ducks this weekend they could have this thing headed in the right direction as they open the Big Ten schedule.
As I filled out my Top 20+1 ballot yesterday I was debating whether or not UM deserved to be slotted in at #21 or if I should drop them all together. The decision? I dropped them out all together and gave Georgia Tech the nod at #21. That said, I still believe Michigan is one of the 21 best teams in the land and they would have made my Top 25. Their defense will improve and we all know how good the offense can be. Provided they don't roll out Chad Henne that is. The drop of UM from both polls is a result of the name they lost to, not the team. As the team they lost to is a quality one, but the name Appalachian State makes it sound a lot worse.
Want More PTI? Your In Luck
Apparently Tony Kornheiser and Mike Wilbon will team up for a 6-minute PTI at half-time of every MNF game. Interestingly, until a conference call yesterday Kornheiser was completely unaware of this. I'm not really sure what to think of it myself. I know PTI is one of ESPN's more successful shows but I'm not sure adding even more of it will work out to well. People tend to get tired of even good things when they're bombarded with it.

Tiki Not The Guy We Thought?
Tiki Barer always seemed like a pretty good guy. Lately, however, he's proven as nothing more than an example that you never truly know what an athlete (or other famous person) is like. It started with his shots at Eli Manning. All of which I thought were unnecessary, especially the radio show portion in which he and his brother mocked Manning for the length of the show. Now though, he has a book. In which he says: "If Tom Coughlin has not remained as head coach of the Giants, I might still be in a Giants uniform," Barber writes in his new book. I find that a bit ridiculous myself as Barber announced his retirement in the middle of the season last year. Not after Coughlin was allowed to keep his job. If Tiki's so bitter about having left the NFL the only place he can look is the mirror.

Why Does Anyone Care?
Jimmy Clausen will start for Notre Dame this weekend in Happy Valley against Penn State. I expect him to be horrible and I wonder why this is a national story when the team sucks.
