Throwing Knives: You Cannot Boo Zambrano

by BD, Sports Show On Mute

Labor day weekend has officially come to a close and schools across the country are opening their doors to whiny children once again. Unfortunately the institution I attend started classes last week. So, I'm firmly re-entrenched in my studies. Yesterday was a solid Labor Day for you all I'm sure. Personally, I'm getting sick and spent most of the day asleep because of work and that sickness. Anyhow, apparently Carlos doesn't want to hear your boo's and Pedro sat down his 3,000 guy. Give Hanna Hilton a moment of your time before you scroll...

No Boo Big Z?
Yesterday as Carlos Zambrano left the field in Chicago he was booed by his home fans. After the game Zambrano wasn't very happy his home fans has booed him. Basically saying no one should be booed in their home park as those are the fans that are supposed to reinvigorate a struggling player. To that I say, blasphemy. Anyone and everyone is fair game. Even the best player in the league (AROD) was regularly at his home park last season. Especially when your posting a 9.56 ERA since signing $91.5 million contract extension. Also, Big Z if your going to question the support of your fans, you had better be playing in Florida. As the Cub faithful are filling the seats and paying your salary regardless of the team's success.

Pedro 3,000!
Pedro Martinez finally returned to the mound for the Mets yesterday. He wasn't great (5IP, 3H, 3R, 2ER, 3BB and 4K's), but he was good enough to get the win to go along with his 3,000 strikeout. The problem is his fastball isn't anywhere near full strength hitting just 88-89 MPH for the day. But, Pedro showed he can get by Maddux style with plenty of moxie, control and off-speed magic. We'll see how it goes. But, I anticipate Pedro pitching at least .500 ball the rest of the way.

Ichiro Records 7th Consecutive 200-Hit Season
This ties Wade Boggs record and it's likely Ichiro will break said record next year in the Pacific Northwest. Ichiro is, in my opinion, one of the best all-around baseball players on the planet. His consistency is almost sickening. He racks up one hit after another and should conclude his career with, at the very least, 10 strait 200-hit seasons.

Another Athlete Robbed
Texans Cornerback Dunta Robinson was robbed at gunpoint inside his home recently. The two men apparently entered through an unlocked door. Robinson's hands and legs were duck taped and one of the men held a gun on him as the other went through the house. When is this going to stop? The more it happens the more aware people are going to become that athletes are relatively easy targets the more people are going to go after them. I have a feeling this will eventually result in a very unfortunate episode.

Television
Californication was interesting last night as Hank was forced into a situation he's none to comfortable with. 'Twas a fund raiser he attended. At which, he juggled his assistant obsessed agent, his ex, his current women, and of course the married guy. I personally enjoyed the end of the episode in which it became clear just how different Hank and Bill are. As Bill held back his wife after she was called a "cunt" by a rather unpleasant fella. Hank upon hearing what had happened put the guy on his ass. The differences were somewhat clear before but I have a feeling their going to get clearer as the weeks progress and we're going to see the ex slip up and hop back in the sack with Hank. Just guessing though.
