EPIC CARNIVAL'S NCAA FOOTBALL TOP 20+1: WEEK 5

by OMDQ, One More Dying Quail and DCScrap, Our Book of Scrap

Another week another round of upsets. It's getting harder and harder to rank these teams since as soon as someone moves into the top tier, they get knocked off by a team they really shouldn't lose to under any circumstances. Once again our voters showed that they won't stand for mediocrity as Rutgers, Clemson and Michigan State all fell out of the rankings. One team that is making a positive impression though is South Florida. In five weeks they have gone from unranked to solidly in the Top 10. Whether that is as a result of their nice play or merely because of the fact that no one else can seem to stay unbeaten remains to be seen.

Rank/School (First Place Votes) /Total Points (Last Week)

1. LSU (10) 250 (Last Week: 1)
  • Interestingly none of the QB's who have started against LSU this season have finished the game. - BD
2. USC (1) 238 (Last Week: 2)
  • You gotta be able to beat an unranked team by more than 3 to be #1. - Wasting Company Time
3. Ohio St 214 (Last Week: 7)
  • They've crushed everybody, but the Big 10 is so weak, it's hard to get a read on them. - Doberman on the Diamond
4. California 209 (Last Week: 5)
  • It's hard for us to put Cal this high as they've always seemed like a program dying to be legit...and being number three is legit...but with all of the losses last week, they have to move up. - Brahsome
5. Kentucky 190 (Last Week: 13)
  • Woodson is single handedly making this team an SEC East contender. - More Credible
6. South Florida (1) 185 (Last Week: 16)
  • Big push up the charts w/a psychobetabuckdown of WVA. - The Ghosts of Wayne Fontes
7. Boston College 179 (Last Week: 9)
  • Not great letting 1-AA UMass back in the game. But still. - The Grand National Championships
8. Wisconsin 170 (Last Week: 11)
  • Still waiting for the Badgers to blow someone out and prove they're a top 10 team. - More Credible
9. Florida 148 (Last Week: 4)
  • Served up warm feces on Saturday night…do they have an encore? - The Ghosts of Wayne Fontes
10. Oklahoma 137 (Last Week: 3)
  • What the hell happened? - Doberman on the Diamond
11. Georgia 107 (Last Week: 15)
  • Still think this is a decent team. Should be an interesting month for them having to play Tennessee and Florida. - Wasting Company Time
12. South Carolina 103 (Last Week: 18)
  • Steve Spurrier is a coaching god. - Wasting Company Time
13. Oregon 102 (Last Week: 8)
  • Tough loss to the Bears. Imagine if you could get a group that holds onto the ball over the goal line. - More Credible
14. West Virginia 74 (Last Week: 6)
  • Figured they'd lose eventually. But, I didn't expect them to get dominated. - BD
15. Arizona State 70 (Last Week: Unranked)
  • All they had to do what get rid of Sam Keller, and suddenly this is a pretty good football team. - Wasting Company Time
16. Hawaii 55 (Last Week: 19)
  • Those 5 picks should have knocked Brennan out of Heisman contention. - BD
17. Virginia Tech 54 (Last Week: 17)
  • Bet against the spread every week until Vegas figures out they can’t cover more than about 5.5 to 7 points. - The Ghosts of Wayne Fontes
T-18. Cincinnati 50 (Last Week: Unranked)
  • Argh. - The Ghosts of Wayne Fontes
T-18. Missouri 50 (Last Week: PLUS ONE)
  • I find it funny that some of us here are all about Illinois. Mizzou beat them. - The Grand National Championships
20. Texas 36 (Last Week: 12)
  • Way to keep your team focused, Mack Brown. - Doberman on the Diamond
PLUS ONE. Purdue 31 (Last Week: Unranked)
  • The way teams in the Big Ten are playing these days, Purdue might end up in the Rose Bowl before it's over. - Our Book of Scrap

Dropped Out: Rutgers (#10), Clemson (#14), Michigan State (#20)
