HOUSE OF MIRRORS: WHO WILL WIN THE WORLD SERIES?

by DCScrap, Our Book of Scrap

History is full of great debate. Questions that remain unanswered like "what came first the chicken or the egg?" or "can you get pregnant through anal?" Luckily for you - the huddled masses - Epic Carnival is here to settle these arguments once and for all. House of Mirrors is your favorite Carnies taking a look at one another and debating the mysteries of the universe.

This week the EC writers debate "Who will win the World Series, the streaking Rockies or the comeback Sox?"

Ray, Flyers Fieldhouse: As much as I hate to say it as a Cleveland fan, you have to like the Red Sox. The last thing the Rockies needed coming off an incredible run like that was an 8-day break. When you're playing like that, you wouldn't mind playing twice a day. It's also nearly impossible to go against Beckett and Schilling in the World Series. When the stakes are highest, those two are nearly unhittable.

Also, Manny Ramirez. Enough said.

DMtShooter, Five Tool Tool: The Sox will win, because there is no God.

BD: The Red Sox because I think the layoff is going to have a major effect on the Rockies. That said, I'm praying I'm wrong as I'm tired of the Sox.

Don, With Malice...: I would love it to be the Rockies, as it would be a fairytale-come-true... but it'll probably be the Red Sox. Why? Simply have too much of pretty much everything for the Rockies to handle. And the Bo' Sox take in a pretty impressive (tho' short) streak of their own - winning three on the trot to come back to defeat the Tribe after being 1-3 down is an awesome achievement.

The only thing I have for the Rockies is that believing in themselves has worked pretty well 'til this point.

Go Colorado!

DCScrap, Our Book of Scrap: Boston in 5. As much as I hate to admit it, they are just the better team. The Rockies have probably lost some of that momentum they had due to the long layoff. If they had played right away I might have gone as far as to say Boston in 7, but the Rockies just don't have the pitching to match up with the BoSox bats.

dswinder, Sons of Sam Malone: The Sawks take the Series in 6. The Rockies have been hot, but the 8-day layoff will prove to squelch their hot streak. The Sox will have no problem shutting down Jeff Francis with Josh Beckett. After that, Curt Schilling is a post-season god, Dice-K can at least try and not implode, and then Boston can throw Beckett back out there for game 4 if need be. I see the Sawks taking 1 and 2 with relative ease, possibly losing 3, winning 4, losing 5, and then winning it all when the Series comes home to Fenway for game 6. So yeah, that's why the Sox win....aaaaaaaand because I said so...

Jacob, Vegas Watch: Red Sox in 5. This is not a about being hot, or layoffs, or any BS like that. Boston is a lot better than Colorado. That's it.

CC Rider, The Black Flag Blog: I'm not a baseball guy, but a Rockies win (especially a sweep) would cap great story.

Shorty, Milk Was a Bad Choice: I got the Rockies in Six Games...Why? Why not...

Sterling Gould, More Credible: The Colorado Rockies win the World Series because of their hot bats and because of the cold weather in Colorado. I believe they'll be used to it, and the Sox will fall victim to the streak.

Brian P. Foley, The College Baseball Blog: The Red Sox will win based on their experience in the rotation and Colorado has had a ton of time off so they will be rusty too.

DISCLAIMER: I am born and have lived my entire life in Massachusetts except for those four years in college when I left for New Hampshire.

Sooze, Babes Love Baseball: The Twins!

I'm indifferent and unbiased... go Sockies.

Mac G, Mac G's World: Rocks in 6 because they will not seem to lose and someone who is holding the Rocks to win the WS ticket really needs that gigantic payoff.

SportsGirl365, Strike Zones and End Zones: The Sox will win, simply because the universe has a f*cked up sense of humor.

The tally is nine for the Red Sox, four for the Rockies, and one for the Twins (?). So who you got?

Common sense says the Sox, but the same told everyone the Tigers last season. Then again, the Tigs were the ones coming off the break. Manny and Ortiz are on fire, or were. Pedroia is finally hitter, Dice-K is pitching like he's in Japan, JD Drew (!?) is hitting, Ellsbury did his part, Coco Crisp is on the bench, they have everything going for them right now. You can't guague heart, and it goes a long way, I just hope it's a good series.

I want the Rox, but my money says the Sox.
