IT'S HUNTIN' SEASON!

by DCScrap, Our Book of Scrap

The leaves are changing, the temperature is dropping, kids are picking out their Halloween costumes, and guys are loadin' up their shotguns, puttin' on their camo and headin' out inta the woods fer some huntin'. Just remember to leave your dog at home.

A hunter is recovering after he was shot in the leg at close range by his dog, who stepped on his shotgun and tripped the trigger. [James] Harris was hunting with a group about three miles north of Grinnell [Iowa]. The group shot a bird, and when Harris went to get it, he put his gun on the ground and crossed a fence. As he crossed the fence, his hunting dog stepped on the gun. The gun was about 3 feet away from his leg.

Whoa. That's definitely going to leave a mark. The dog wasn't named "Cheney" by any chance?

No word whether the guys doing the hunting were the two in the video below, but the odds are good that they were something similar...

This guy getting shot by his dog got me to thinking and I did a little Google search on "hunting accidents." I came up with these beauties from just the last week:

Boy kills uncle in hunting accident
Man killed in hunting accident
Sheriff says West Lakeland shooting was hunting accident
Boy home from hospital after September hunting accident
Hunting Accident
Child Injured In Hunting Accident
Boy, 17, Shot In Upstate Hunting Accident

The animals seem to be having a pretty good year thinning the herd so far. Maybe hunting season needs to be extended?
