THROWING KNIVES: WHERE ARE WE GOING?

by BD, Epic Carnival

College Football has been absolutely insane this season, but can it continue to shock us every single weekend? Which national power will be next to get embarrassed on their home field? I have no idea, and I'm not going to claim to, either. But, I am going to speculate about where we'll be once the regular season comes to an end. In each conference, as well as nationally, and I may even toss out some other thoughts. Also today, my LCS guesses that I'd prefer remain as they were (correctly predict AL, not even close in the NL) in the first round to put me closer to winning my bet on the Indians to win the World Series. The NBA preseason has begun and fear not people, I'll have some kind of NBA preview bit going on before too long, seeing as the season is about three weeks away. Today's eye candy is Holly Weber, who is admittedly a bit of a butter face, but still the rest is worth a look.

College Football Idiocy
The intention here is to look at where we may be when the regular season comes to an end. Given the fireworks thus far, I'd say theirs as good a chance as any that we could be looking at the least foreseen BCS palette of all time.

Big East

Contenders/Losable Remaining Games:
Cincinnati - UL, @USF, WVU
West Virginia - @RUT, UL, @CINCI
South Florida - @RUT, CINCI, UL

While Louisville is no longer a contender for the conference title as long as they have Brian Brohm behind center they could play spoiler to any of the above teams. Though all three games are on the road. The biggest game is without a doubt when Cincinnati heads to South Florida. A game I think Cincinnati will win. Going to Rutgers is still tough regardless how bad they've looked as WVU and USF both still have to do it. The lack of a championship game plays best into USF's hands, but as I said I think Cinci will go into their building and beat them.

Conference Winner(Record): Cincinnati (12-0)

Big Ten

Contenders/Losable Remaining Games:
Ohio State - MSU, @PSU, WISC, ILL, @UM
Michigan - @ILL, @MSU, @WISC, OSU
Wisconsin - @PSU, @OSU, UM
Illinois - UM, @OSU

Ohio State definitely has the tougher games left, but they're also the best team in the conference without question. Illinois has the least amount of tough games left, but they won't be able to win in Columbus. Wisconsin should be eliminated as early as this weekend with a trip to Happy Valley. As for Michigan? To many tough road games, they may be out of it before they welcome the Buckeyes to Ann Arbor.

Conference Winner(Record): Ohio State (12-0)

SEC

Contenders/Losable Remaining Games:
LSU - @KU, AUB, @ALA, ARK
Florida - @KU, @UG, @USC, FSU
South Carolina - @TENN, @ARK, FL, CLEM
Auburn - @ARK, @LSU, @UG, ALA
Kentucky - LSU, FL, @UG, TENN
Georgia - FL, AUB, KU, @GTECH

Plenty of possibilities here, though most of them reside within the SEC East. Which makes LSU look like a lock to reach the SEC championship game. In east, as I've discussed before, it looks as if South Carolina has the best shot, but Florida and Georgia can both still steal the conference. Kentucky, and Auburn both look like long shots given who they haven't played. Florida has arguably the toughest schedule down the strecth to go along with their already two loss record. My guess is they handle Kentucky, but lose to Georgia making a win over South Carolina to little to late.

SEC East Winner(Record): South Carolina (10-2)
SEC West Winner(Record): LSU (12-0)
SEC Champion: South Carolina (So much for the "can't win the SEC at SC, eh Spurrier?)

ACC (Though nobody cares.)

Contender/Losable Remaining Games:

Boston College - @VT, FSU, @MARY, @CLEM, MIA
Virginia - @MARY, WF, @MIA, VT
Virginia Tech - BC, @GTECH, FSU, MIA, @UV
Florida State - @WF, MIA, @BC, @VT, MARY, @FL
Clemson - @MARY, WF, BC, @USC
Wake Forest - FSU, @UV, @CLEM,
Miami - GTEHC, @FSU, UV, @VT, @BC

This is a complete cluster fuck as you'd expect from the country's most mediocre conference. BC is the clear favorite, but Virginia and Virginia Tech both remain unbeaten within the ACC at this point. UV is likely to fall back to earth, and VT can't score on offense which is not a good sign. The rest of the teams need a whole lot of losing in order to steal the conference.

ACC Atlantic Winner(Record): Boston College (12-0)
ACC Coastal Winner(Record): Virginia Tech (9-3)
ACC Champion: Boston College

Pac-10

Contender/Losable Remaining Games:
Cal - @ASU, @UCLA, USC, @WASH, @STAN
USC - @ORE, @CAL, @ASU, UCLA
ASU - WASH, CAL, @ORE, @UCLA, USC
Oregon - @WASH, USC, ASU, @UCLA
UCLA - CAL, ASU, ORE, @USC

UCLA makes this list because their still unbeaten within the Pac-10. Interestingly, they have a shot to have to largest impact on who comes out of the Pac-10 with the crown. Cal and USC have arguably the toughest closing stretch with most of their tough games away from home. Its a bit of a wash, but this is how I think it goes. Cal falls to USC at home, USC ends up with 3 losses as they drop all of their remaining road games except @Cal due to QB play, ASU squanders opportunity by falling to Oregon, UCLA and Cal, and Oregon wins out to clinch a tie with Cal atop the rankings. The Pac-10 doesn't have a championship games, thus that touchback looms large as Cal wins the tiebreaker and heads for the Rose Bowl. Their loss to USC though costs them a shot at the BCS title.

Pac-10 Winner(Record): California (11-1)

Big 12

Contenders/Losable Remaining Games:
Oklahoma - MIZZOU, A&M
Missouri - @OU, @COL, @KSTATE, @KAN
Kansas - @COL, @A&M, NEB, MIZZOU
Colorado - @KSTATE, KAN, MIZZOU, NEB
Texas A&M - @NEB, KAN, @OU, @MIZZOU, TEX

This conference is complete and utter shit now that Oklahoma has shown their true self, or at least youth. Missouri has a near impossible chance to run the table, but they may need to if they want a second shot at Oklahoma, (who they very well may beat this weekend), as Kansas doesn't have to play OU and poses the biggest threat to Mizzou in the Big 12 North. Making their meeting in Mizzou look like a very big game if things remain the same. OU should win the South whether they lose to Mizzou or not.

Big 12 North Winner(Record): Missouri (11-1
Big 12 South Winner(Record): Oklahoma (11-1)
Big 12 Champion: Missouri

All of this means that your BCS Championship games is... Boston College Vs. Ohio State and OSU makes up for last years debacle.

Other BCS Games
Rose: Cal Vs. LSU
Sugar: South Carolina Vs. Oklahoma
Fiesta: Missouri Vs. Cincinnati
Orange: Oregon Vs. South Florida

LCS Picks
Cleveland over Boston in 7
Arizona over Colorado in 5

No Scoreboard today, as their is nothing to put in it.

You have OSU winning the championship and the Indians winning the AL pennant? I like where your head's at...

The real kicker is that I'm from MI, and everybody I know hopes I'm wrong.
