TOP 11 REASONS WHY EAGLES' COACH ANDY REID WON'T RUN THE BALL

by DMtShooter, Five Tool Tool

In last Sunday night's 16-3 to the Giants, the Eagles gave up a league record-tying 12 quarterback sacks while starting the inexperienced and overmatched second-year offensive lineman Winston Justice. QB Donovan McNabb only threw for 76 net yards on 31 attempts, for less than 3 yards per attempt. The team also refused to give Justice help, or pull him.

Meanwhile, the team ran for 114 yards, with starting running back Correll Buckhalter going for 103 on 17 carries, a 6.1 yards per carry average. The game was within one score for nearly three quarters, and the Eagles actually won the time of possession battle. (It should also be noted that the SNF crew of Michaels and Madden failed to mention any of this during the telecast. Nice job, guys!)

So why didn't they run the ball more?

11. Reid has a terminal case of Martzitis, the coaching disease where you have to throw the ball 75% of the time, whether it works or not (see, Shoot, Run And)

10. When Coach Andy Reid was a child, running backs killed his parents

9. Everyone knows that chicks dig the aerial game

8. Once the opposing defense gets to a dozen sacks, they get plumb tuckered out, and they are ripe for the plucking

7. Reid has to be very careful to not overuse Buckhalter, who only has 2 or 3 more catastrophic knee injuries left in him

6. The Eagles are eager to get to the Kevin Kolb era without a quarterback controversy, so they are trying to get McNabb killed

5. Reid has been driven Stark Raving Mad by his felonious kids

4. If the Eagles can't score 56 points, they don't want to score any

3. Reid is suicidially depressed by the knowledge that Bill "Nixon" Belichick cheated him out of the only Super Bowl he's likely to ever get to, and trying to provoke Philly Fan into an assasination attempt

2. Didn't have Brian Westbrook to not give the ball to, so his whole game plan was thrown off

1. Passes are purty
