WE'RE #1!!!

by DCScrap, Our Book of Scrap

Today an enterprising person took it upon themselves himself/herself to rank the 100 Most Influential sports blogs in the blogosphere (or in NOIS-speak, Blogfrica). Far be it from me to cast aspersions at a fellow sports blogger, but what ... the ... f*ck?!

First and foremost, in order to rank sports blogs, maybe one should actually have a simple working knowledge of the blogs that exist, no?

Let me run this by you ...

If a sports blog in this super-special ranking list has writers from 14 out of the 100 "super-duper sports blogs" would you think that maybe, perhaps, this blog would be listed on the Top 100? I would. But yet, we, EpicCarnival.com are nowhere to be found. Verrry, very interesting.

Let's take a little count here, shall we?

12.) 100% Injury Rate
17.) Vegas Watch
22.) Home Run Derby
31.) Ghosts of Wayne Fontes
34.) Doberman on the Diamond
35.) With Malice
47.) One More Dying Quail
51.) The Angry T
52.) Cake Rocks the Party (incorrectly listed...that's not the name of the site, expert.)
53.) Brahsome
56.) Cobra Brigade
89.) Storming the Floor
90.) Pacifist Viking
97.) Babes Love Baseball

and the following have also posted on our site ...

24.) The Sports Hernia
25.) Rumors and Rants
33.) Deuce of Davenport
62.) The Beautiful Game
79.) Losers With Socks (btw...it's "Loser" not "Losers." Get it right, asshat.)

and they have ...
96.) The Starting Five

96th?

In summary, who the living f*ck is the guy making this list?!

I know what you are saying. Why should I care about some random blog's list? I don't. I just love stirring up sh*t. You got a problem with that, comment below, Mr. Anonymous.

FIRST COMMENT!
Storming the Floor...which may be the most awesome blog in the universe is like two weeks old. How fucking influential can it be?

Anyone who takes the list of influentials at face value...is probably placing too much trust in a blogger who spells it "influencial."

Completely agree about the lack of common sense--noting that Epic Carnival (and others) were mysteriously overlooked--and wrote as much over over at Ballhype earlier.

But hey, if young Juiced Sports Blog wanted attention, give him some credit for writing a post (albeit a weak one) that will get the blogosphere talking.

I know everything you said, and I am poking fun as much as anything. If it brings him "more hits", then bravo. I just thought the whole list was funny. Plus I am drunk...KIDDING...sort of.

Given he rated me at #35, I think that the ratings are totally above board, and were obviously created using a special mathematic formula (probably akin to the Ballhype one! ;) )...

All in fun I guess, and as you said Dribbles, he'll get people talking.

A "heh" to Scrap.

And Malice, seeing you in the top tier is a ranking that does make sense, whether a Deadspin or no-name blog is making a Top 100. Face it: Is there any other Australian- or Japanese-centered sports blog worth reading? You've got the power of two continents behind you.

But seriously...to watch some bloggers that I respect voting this up on Ballhype or thanking Juiced for being included...it's enough to make a guy wonder.

I think we should change the name to Asshat Carnival.

The hits will come like babies to a dumpster.

While I am flattered by the love here, I will respond to criticisms about leaving out this blog. The intent of my list was to rank the top 100 individual sports bloggers. That's why this site didn't make it, but many of the individual posters got their personal sites ranked. Same reason why KSK didn't make it, but With Leather did.

I feel a lot of angst going on here.

What Would Dr. Phil Do?

DCScrap said...

Michael...point taken, but that does not explain why Melissa Midwest was not on your list.

If you really want to discredit the post look at blog #28...

Absent a post for the past month. Yet obviously more influential than this here blog.

I don't care. I am more important than Dan "Stop the bandwagon I wanna get off" Shanoff.

That's just winner bucks right there.

What Would Dr. Phil Do?

exploit our problems for the sake of ratings?

Actually, many of the blogs dude listed in his top 100 have many guest writers. So, Deadspin cannot and should not be qualified as an "individual blog," yet it is; same with TBL and on and on.

But Epic Carnival peeps, thanks for sticking up for The Starting Five.

By the way, Storming the Floor has become the most awesome blog in the universe within two weeks. That's how we roll.
