by WCT, The Ship of Fools
A pretty uneventful Saturday, relatively speaking, in college football this week. Its funny, there have been so many upsets this year that we have become desensitized. The #1 team in the nation gets upset by an unranked and we don’t even blink.
- A lot of the luster has been taken off of this weekend's Ohio State-Michigan game because both teams lost games they had no business losing on Saturday. Michigan looked uninterested in Madison, and Ohio State lost at home because the defense was gashed by Juice Williams in the fourth quarter.
- Last point on Michigan: Were they saving Chad Henne (who played sparingly in the first half) and Michael Hart (who didn't play) for the Ohio State game next week? How else can you explain them dressing their best player but keeping him on the sidelines the entire game?
- Missouri looked very sloppy against Texas A&M and their lame-duck coach, but were able to hold off the Aggies with a late rally. Chase Daniel threw for 353 yards, three TDs and no INTs. Is anyone going to join me on the "Daniel for Heisman" bandwagon? Anyone?
- Kansas, on the other hand, looked good. They avoided an obvious trap in Stillwater on Saturday night. That team can score with ANYBODY. Just ask Nebraska.
- Is there a more annoying coach in D-1A than Texas Tech's Mike Leach? His team allows 59 points in their loss to Texas and he's complaining about the officiating. Mike, you didn't lose because of the officials, you lost because you gave up eight touchdowns in one football game
- So we're all agreed that Boston College was a complete and utter fraud, right? They scored 14 fourth quarter points to make the score respectable, but their loss to Maryland Saturday night was not close. In successive weeks they played horribly and escaped against Virginia Tech, and lost to two average-at-best ACC teams.
- Staying in the ACC, I could not have been more wrong about that Virginia-Miami contest.
- The UConn loss, on the other hand, I saw coming a mile away. I thought this would be a big year for the Big East, and it doesn't look like that is going to be the case.
- Will the idiot reporter who is voting West Virginia #1 on his or her ballot (the Mountaineers got one first place vote this week in the AP poll) please stop? Its not funny. WVU needed a miracle touchdown in the final seconds to beat a terrible Louisville team at home last week. Not to mention the fact that this was after West Virginia blew a 17-point lead. No one who has seen this team play can possibly think WVU is the best team in the country. It would not surprise me if Cincinnati beat them this week.
- Is Georgia really for real? Is Knowshon Moreno really as good as he has looked the last few weeks? How in the world did this team lose by three touchdowns to Tennessee?
- How about some love for the job Sylvester Croom has done at Mississippi State? It has take a while, but he has turned that program into a respectable one in the SEC. The Bulldogs beat Nick Saban and his then-#22 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday to go to 6-4 and gain bowl eligibility.

I think Cinci knocks off WVU this weekend. As I think their D can slow WVU enough to win.
