You'll have to excuse me if I say that I spent most of the time between noon and 3pm watching only one game rather than my usual five.
- If you ever wanted to know what "Tressel-ball" was, it was on display in full force in Ann Arbor on Saturday. The Buckeyes took a 14-3 lead early in the third quarter, and then basically sat on the ball for the rest of the game. It doesn't make for entertaining television, but its hard to argue with the results.
- Another nice effort by the Michigan offense. Thanks for showing up guys. 91 total yards. NINETY-ONE. That was their total for the entire game. Is there a more overrated receiver in college football than Mario Manningham? The man simply cannot catch.
- The Boston College-Clemson contest Saturday night was simply a great college football game. You can't really blame Tommy Bowden and Clemson's perennial underachievement for that loss. With this game, combined with the injury to Dennis Dixon and the disappearance of Mike Hart, I think Matt Ryan has put himself back in the Heisman discussion. I don't think he deserves the trophy, but I think he should get to make the trip to New York.
- I must say, I did not see that Texas Tech upset of Oklahoma coming. This, coupled with the Oregon loss from Thursday, makes for literally dozens of possibilities for the BCS title game matchup. LSU and Kansas control their own destinies, but Ohio State, left for dead after being upset last week, is now alive. West Virginia, who keeps proving me wrong week after week, is alive. Missouri, who somehow got a first-place vote in the AP poll, is alive. Arizona State, who now leads the Pac-10, is alive. What about the two loss teams? Is Georgia alive?
- Speaking of Mizzou, the one-man "Chase Daniel for Heisman" campaign is going to continue until this guy starts getting some love. 285 yards, four TDs and no INTs in the blowout win at Kansas State. Jump on the bandwagon now people!
- Tennessee scored 16 unanswered fourth-quarter points to beat Vandy 25-24 in Knoxville to save Phil Fullmer's job, if only temporarily.
- Alabama. Wow. Just...Wow. Louisiana-Monroe is a middle-of-the-pack team in the Sun Belt Conference for crying out loud. How does a team like that come into Tuscaloosa and beat the Crimson Tide? Saban haters rejoice!
