DON'T BE FOOLED AGAIN

by Mac G, Mac G's World

The hatred for Nick Saban runs deep in Dixie. It is almost as thick as the gravy at Cracker Barrels or the Southern accents.

Saban alienated the LSU fan base after bolting the Tigers for the Miami Dolphins. After two sub par seasons with the Dolphins, rumors circulated that Saban was heading back to college coaching at Alabama. Saban publicly bristled at such accusations declaring coldly, "I'm not going to be the Alabama coach."

Two weeks and 32 million dollars later, Saban was announced as the new head coach of Alabama. This infuriated Dolphins fans, players, and management, who felt Saban flat out lied to their faces. Legendary coach Dolphins coach Don Shula illustrated the outrage towards Saban's dishonestly by saying, "There were four or five direct statements that were blatant lies. That tells you a little bit about the guy. The guy likes to hear himself talk and then doesn't follow up on what he says."

Don Shula's anger was compounded by his son Mike being forced out of the Bama head coaching position, which created the opening for Saban. Shula believes Saban was angling for the position all along and this played a big role into the firing of Mike.

The reputation of Alabama football is a long storied one. Former coach Bear Bryant dominated the scene of college football, winning six national titles and thirteen SEC championships in 25 years. This illustrious success has fueled outrageous expectations and created a sense of entitlement amongst Tide fans.

Saban's arrival festered these feelings in Tuscaloosa and fans now think it is only a matter of time until the Tide is back on top.

The historic achievements of the Bama football program has bred institutional backlash from other SEC schools towards them. SEC fans argue that Tide fans live too much in the past and they are no longer the dominant power of the SEC but still act like they are relevant.

Bottom Line: Not only do SEC fans dislike Alabama, they downright loathe them.

Recap:
LSU fans hate Saban.
Dolphins fans hate him.
The fans of all SEC schools hate Bama and now hate Saban.
LSU fans now hate him even more.

His alleged involvement in Black Poon Friday only further sunk his popularity.

Well, Steve Carter, a candidate for a Louisiana state house race in Baton Rouge, is attempting to tap into the Saban anger movement. Carter has already used, "Beat Bama" on his campaign yard signs and now he is airing this clever TV political advertisement. The ad questions the other candidate's reliability and compares his trustworthiness to Saban. Check it Out.

The run off election is this Saturday and if this ad is influential with voters, LSU's road game at Ole Miss could only benefit Carter at the polls.

Saban hatred might possibly reach new heights by helping to elect a politician to office. Crazy.
