THE PATRIOTS JUST SCORED AGAIN ... BAD FOR THE NFL?

by Jack Cobra, Cobra Brigade

I'm going to jump into this argument about whether or not the Patriots scoring all of these points is bad for the NFL. It seems everyone has an opinion on it, so I might as well throw mine out there.

I don't care about the integrity of the NFL, the integrity of the teams, good sportsmanship or any of that stuff. I'm a fan of the NFL. I want to see points. I want to see players bashing into each other going 150 miles per hour and I want to see cheerleaders and not necessarily in that order. I don't care what the score is as long as the Cowboys are winning and I don't care how many points the Patriots score as long as it's a whole bunch.

It's obvious that the Pats are upset with the NFL about their cheating issue. Should they be? Probably not, since they pretty much admitted to it. Still, it has taken their team and the motivation of their team to a whole different level. Never before have we seen a team in the NFL score 35+ points for the first eight weeks of the season and I can't remember a time when a team was adding on touchdowns at the end of games just because they could.

I like what the Patriots are doing. I wasn't around back in the day when everyone hated the Raiders, but I'm guessing this is kind of what it was like. The Patriots have probably the most talented roster in the NFL and they are playing like it. We see so many teams play below their potential, that I think it's great to see a team actually live up to the hype. They have the best quarterback in the NFL and he's playing like it. They have the best wide receiver in the NFL and he's playing like it. They have the best coach in the NFL....and he's coaching with a chip on his shoulder. The Patriots went out and stacked this team in the off-season by finally giving Tom Brady some people to throw the ball too while also signing some stout defenders. They may be the best team we have ever seen in the NFL. Read that again. THEY MAY BE THE BEST TEAM WE HAVE EVER SEEN IN THE NFL.

As for the 'running up of the score'....life is rough isn't it? If you don't want the Pats to score...stop them. The problem is, the only team that can stop the Pats...is the Pats. That's not even one of those cliche sayings...it's literal. The only team that can stop the Pats from scoring is if they pull their players. I like seeing a team hammer the nail into the coffin and then proceed to put fourteen more nails in it just to be an ass about it. I think it's funny...to me it's entertaining and that's exactly what I want the NFL to be.

This whole scoring points thing is to the point of being ridiculous. They scored 52 points yesterday. 52! That's a lot and I'm going to say that's probably not even going to end up being their high point total for the season. There are probably some teams that haven't scored 52 points in a game in the entire history of their franchise.

I'm looking forward to the Patriots traveling to Indy this weekend. I'll be sitting on my couch watching it in HD as this match-up of 8-0 teams takes place. Two teams enter without a loss and only one leaves unscathed...that team will be the Pats after a 44-24 drubbing of the Colts.

The people at ESPN, who know a lot more about the NFL than I, put together this video on how the rest of the NFL is reacting, or is going to react, to the behavior of the Patriots.....
