THE BLOGBUDSMAN: A CHOICE

by BOHChris, Blog of Hilarity

So begins my reign as the prestigiously titled Blogbudsman. You guys probably are familiar with the LIBERAL MEDIA's spin on this, the Ombudsman. As more and more blogs make moves towards being professional media entities, someone needs to keep watch. That's where I come in. Like a less manly version of LeAnne Schreiber.

Why me? Well clearly because my judgment is always beyond reproach. Not to mention the combination of my debonair looks that jells perfectly with my everyman quality writing style, reminiscent of Dave Barry or Marshawn Lynch. Or because it was my idea... one of the two.

Now, an ombudsman is supposed to be the speaker for the people. To give voice to their complaints and praise to the things the objective reader would enjoy. But, I must admit, upon the internal announcement of my appointment (which was not heralded with a crown, flower petals, and trumpeters like I would have hoped), I received some concerns from some of my fellow writers at Epic Carnival.

"What will you be writing about?"
"If you bash me or anyone I respect, I'll leave the site."
"I hope this doesn't end up like Your Blog Blows."

Now, I have no fear about bashing anyone. I've always subscribed to the theory that you don't get ahead in this blog world of ours with niceties. There are some bloggers whom I admire and adore. There are some I find obnoxious and talentless. I'd love to point out both of those, both on this site and around the sports blogosphere. But at this point, I'm going to leave the decision to you, the reader.

This feature can be one of four things:

-An entirely honest critique of the work done here and around the sports blogosphere.
-A candid look at the sports blogosphere that mentions situations floating around but doesn't address any blog by name.
-An open and honest weekly look focused entirely on Epic Carnival, including the positives and the negatives.
-A column filled with broad, sweeping, baseless attacks on bloggers around the sports blogosphere.

I'd like to point out that the last one would also probably include stick figure drawings.

I have my preference, of course, but I'm a man of the people and leave the decision to you, the Epic Carnival reader. I'll be back next week with the agreed upon outcome.

I of course will choose baseless attacks.

Yeah, I'm also in favor of baseless attacks. Fuck that "well-thought out piece" bullshit. Let's blow this whole thing up! Yeehaw!

A tub of moonshine + Lighter + Doug's Home = The End of EC.

All I am missing there is ... whoa ...

Christ, are you serious DCScrap? Why would have this guy any more involved in this site than he already is?

Most unfunny writer out there that's attempting to be funny.

Awful, just awful.

What can I say? He has pictures of me in a compromising position. As a side note, how come all the negative comments are always by Anonymous commenters? Is being negative somehow tied to the inability to register on a Web site? Because if it is, I want to start a foundation or something to get you guys some help.

You've got it backwards..I'm actually helping Scrap promote his nude pictures to key demographics.

I'll be literally just as involved with the site as before so shh. One piece a week or so...whatever. Who else would care so little as to recklessly and baselessly bash other people in the self-congratulatory sports blogosphere? Other than the MBSR dudes, I suppose.
