Welcome to another edition of the ever-popular Cheerleader Friday, where we highlight one of the most important aspects of professional and college athletics -- the cheerleader. Today's feature focuses on the best of the best as the Oakland Raiders gave out their annual awards to the girls who shined the brightest in 2007. While many cheerleaders are deserving of our praise, these chosen ones were a step higher than those surrounding them.
And now, on to the awards!
First up are the Raiderettes Dancers of the Year! Dancers?! Wow, who knew they danced? I mean, you know, when there aren't bills being placed... never mind.
In what appears to be a tie vote or something, the first winner is Alyssa. She is in her second season as a Raiderette, is a business graduate, and has a Master's degree from the University of Virginia. And apparently its a good thing she can dance because there are about 15 other Raiderettes I'd invite into the sack before I'd choose her for my cheer squad. (Her video bio.)
Also winning Dancer of the Year honors was April. Now we're talkin'. April is also in her second season with the Raiderettes. She hopes to later attend graduate school so that she can obtain her MBA in finance and earn a CPA license. How exciting. (Her video bio.)
The Rookie of the Year Award went to Kathleen. I love rookies. Kathleen is said to be a very busy young woman as she currently holds four jobs in addition to being a full-time student. Does each club she works at count as a separate job? When Kathleen graduates from college she hopes to gain more experience in broadcast journalism. What does she mean by more experience? (Her video bio.)
And now for the biggie: Raiderette of the Year. Are you ready? Drumroll please... The award goes to... Jennifer G!
Jennifer G is in her fifth year as a Raiderette. She is a full-time student attending UC Santa Barbara, pursuing a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Economics. She has kept herself busy outside of school by playing soccer. Congratulations, Jennifer... uh ... G! (Her video bio.)
We hope you enjoyed this week's look at some of this country's finest athletes and entertainers. Be sure to check back next week when we profile yet another one of America's sweethearts of the sidelines.
Happy New Year, folks!

I just noticed this and am too lazy to go back to their Web site, but do the Raiders have something against blondes?
They have about 10 blondes . That is a third or so of the squad . Get your eyes checked .
