PREFIGHT
Drunken Brits tuning up for the main event. One guy is drinking two longnecks at the same time. Current lines at BetDSI Sportsbook is as follows:
Mayweather -275
Hatton +235
and on the O/U round prop:
OVER 11' ROUNDS -210
UNDER 11' ROUNDS +175
Drunken Brits singing "God Save the Queen" and showing no respect to the legendary Manny Steward. Thankfully, they've called in Michael Buffer to MC the main event to lead a degree of dignity to the proceedings. Buffer introducing Tom Jones singing "God Save the Queen". With the exception of that gnarly hairweave Jones looks and sounds pretty good for his age. Brits roar their approval as Buffer intros the US anthem. US got screwed since we've got Tyrese singing *our* anthem. Score the anthems to Tom Jones/Brits. Drunken Brits are trying to be quiet and respectful during the anthem despite a smattering of boos at the beginning. I guess they were booing Tyrese. Boos picking up near the end of the anthem--I guess they're still sore about that "Revolutionary War" thing.
Jude Law in the house as is Sugar Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns. There's Mark Cuban sitting with the "Midnight Idol" Wayne Newton. Tiger Woods and Will Farrell are in attendance. Denzel is here, Wesley Snipes, David Beckham w/o his wife. Jeremy Pivin from "Entourage" is in attendance as are Brangelia (that's Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie).
Hatton making his way to the ring to the awful version of "Blue Moon" I mentioned earlier. In his last fight he prefaced it with a badass sample of Winston Churchill over air raid sirens. Mayweather's entrance begins with a video montage, much to the delight of the drunken Brits.
Mayweather making his entrance now, inexplicably choosing Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" as his ring entrance. Fitty Cent does not appear to be in attendance. Buffer ready to intro the fighters.
They should do a ten bell salute to both the late "Last of the Gladiators" Evel Knievel and to the memory of Pantera/Damageplan guitarist Dimebag Darrell on this day three years ago. Buffer booms out the catch phrase and we're ready to intro Hatton...
Hatton introduced first to the expected response. Mayweather being introduced now to the expected chorus of boos. Buffer intros him as "Pretty Boy Floyd AKA Money Mayweather". Ref gives the final instructions and we're set to go:
MAYWEATHER/HATTON ROUND 1:
Mayweather jabs and Hatton bulls him into the ropes. Cortez breaks it quickly. Nice quick left by Mayweater snaps Hatton's head back. Punch to the body by Mayweather. Could go either way--except for the stumble. I'll give it to Hatton 10-9

Uppercut from Hatton lands. Mayweather lands a right hand lead, Hatton tries to hit on the break again. Cortez separates them then Hatton moves Mayweather back to the ropes. Cortez separates the two fighters as the round ends. Hatton's round 10-9 narrowing Mayweather's lead on my card to 48-47.

Mayweather leads on my card 58-55.
MAYWEATHER/HATTON ROUND 7:
Fighters tied up again, they break and then tie up again. This is pretty much how the round has gone for the first 1:15. Hatton lands some punches while tied up against the ropes. Mayweather lands on the break and then another punch inside. Hatton not really doing any damage, but he's controlling the tempo. Tied up again, hook to the body by Mayweather. Cortez separates the fighters again. Small flurry by Mayweather to end the round. Tough round to score--Hatton controlled the tempo, but Mayweather landed the most effective punches. It could go either way but I'll call it Mayweather 10-9. Mayweather leads 69-64.
MAYWEATHER/HATTON ROUND 8:
More of the same holding hitting to start the round. Mayweather lands a nice combination and then another. Another nice right by Hatton. Bodyshots by Mayweather. A couple of more punches and Hatton stumbles across the ring and falls down. Joe Cortez waves the fight off and Floyd Mayweather wins by TKO....
POSTFIGHT:
Mayweather hugs and kisses Hatton--he's now in postfight "Sweet Floyd" mode. Incredible performance by Mayweather--Hatton did a nice job dictating the fight and keeping him off balance early on but Floyd adapted his amazing skills to take over the fight and eventually win by KO.
Offical result--1:35 round 10 Mayweather wins by KO
Mayweather giving a gracious interview now giving tons of props to Hatton. Calls Hatton "one hell of a fighter". This is going to be an interesting fight (hopefully). Mayweather is Mayweather, but beating that version of De La Hoya isn't much. When DLHoya pushed the matter and threw combos, he did well, he just couldn't sustain it. Also, DLHoya looked like an old zombie out there. He has a case of Holyfielditis, where he can't pull the trigger any longer. Kept working to get in close to Mayweather, then just standing there.
Hatton fights as hard as he can for all three minutes for all 12 rounds. I don't know if Mayweather has been in that kind of fight. It's going to be a brawl.
Mayweather is going to be teeing off, for sure, as a nonstop attack is going to give him ample opportunity to counterpunch.
But MW won't get time to sit back and appraise the situation, like he usually does. He's really going to be pushed to fight his hardest.
Hatton is a quick little bugger, and he's going to be getting inside all night. He'll likely start off leading with jabs, getting in, hammering the body and doubling hooks to the head. After 4-5 rounds, he'll drop the jabs, but regardless of anyone's conditioning, there's a point in the fight when both fighters settle in and the bout takes on its own rhythm. And the rhythm is going to be full-on throw-down.
This should be the fight that defines both of these fighters. Any thoughts?
I'm just a drunk American, not a drunk Brit, but I want to see Mayweather eat some canvas.
Thus should be an easy fight for mayweather. hatton has major flaws that a smart yet aggressive mayweather should be able to take advantage of
If this goes the distance, it's Mayweather. Hatton will need to score a knockout to win.
I know Floyd is cocky but how can any american want the Brit to win? I am a liberal commie and I never want a foreign boxer to beat an American.
Especially with the fan behavior of the Brit fans.
Oh, Floyd JR is trying to be Apollo Creed with the USA song. Roger said in one of the shows that Apollo would have beat Rocky in real life and that Hatton was a Rocky type.
Mac G:
Did you watch 24/7? If you watch that show, no way can you root against Hatton. I don't care what your nationality is.
Oh yeah, I watched it and I loved Fatton. He drinks beer at a pub with his pals during his down time. Who does not like that? However, GO USA
mayweather wants to be ali but he's too dumb. i hope hatton floors him.
It sounds like Mayweather is cruising now....
go USA .... or something
Bristish commentators are saying Floyd is winning with sharp accurate punches.
I hope the Tropicana has enough Fish and Chips on their buffet for the angry drunk brits! U S A!
Well, I'm sufficiently impressed.
