Suspended New Orleans Hornets Chris Andersen, aka "The Birdman", has applied for reinstatement into the NBA and the decision will be made very soon.
If the NBA lets the Birdman fly again, the Hornets will have first crack at his services and if they decline, he will become a free agent.
Andersen is serving a 2 year suspension for testing positive for drugs. Unconfirmed reports have mention hard drug usage(blow, E) but this is all speculative. Whatever the party drug of Andersen's choice, it cost him dearly as he lost his 13 million dollar guaranteed contract.
I hope the NBA brings back The Birdman. Here are my reasons why:
1. Dude has major ups- Myself being a white baller with cement blocks tied to my legs, I respect a fellow white boy that can sky. Mark Madsen, Brian Scalabrine, and Brian Cardinal have done enough white boy pride damage.
2. Cool nickname- Birdman is catchy and he has his own symbol for it too. Awesome.
3. Entertaining to watch- Most true fans love to see the players on their favorite teams scrap and hustle. The Birdman brings this high energy every night. Just think, David Lee with more tats and a cool hair due. I chuckle when he flashes the Birdman sign after crams.
4. Great Personality- Fans and teammates love this guy. Here is a snippet of Anderson's sense of humor.
Courtside during a Nuggets-Hornets game this season, a Nugget was shooting a free throw when Ander-sen spotted the Hornets' Melvin Ely, an old pal. In the airtight Pepsi Center, Andersen suddenly yelled: "Hey, Melvin!" followed by a high-pitched birdcall, which made the focused Ely crack into laughter.
5. Loves to Party- It sucks that he lost his NBA contract but who would not want to party NBA baller style and toss groupies around like block shots? Sign Me Up. My advice is to stick with booze and weed. It seems to work for the rest of the NBA.
Check out some Birdman highlights.
However, the Birdman should stay away from any more dunk contests after this debacle.
