You want Jason Kidd, no problem.
You can get him for the bargain basement price of 19,728,000 this year and 21,372,000 next year.
No big deal huh?
I mean, hell yeah, Id pay that much for a 34 year old point guard who shoots the ball as well as Ben Wallace.
This is Jason Kidd's 15th year in the league. Of those 15 years, Kidd has shot below 40% from the field in 6 of them.
His career FG% is barely above the 40% for that matter(.401).
Shouldnt we coin a term for ineptitude of this caliber. Something similar to the Mendoza line perhaps?
Heck, at the rate Kidd is shooting the rock, the term may as well be named after him.
And please spare me the "Kidd controls the game in other ways". Really?
If he was so dominant in other aspects of the game, where are his rings?
Hmmm?
Didnt he play in the "weak" Eastern Conference for half of his career?
------------------------
Of the ten greatest point guards in NBA history, only two have played as long as Kidd.
Payton and Stockton
Stockton never won a championship and Payton hurt his arm hanging on Shaq and Wade's coattails in '06.
You need to be able to score effectively as a Point Guard in the NBA to win Championships. Magic, Big O, Zeke, and Clyde were all scorers and consequently, those guys led their team to championships.
Can Kidd do that as a guard on his last legs?
I highly doubt it.
But knowing some of the moves GMs in the NBA make, I'm sure some team will be willing to mortgage their future for his services.
